My undergrad was in archaeology & I had particular interests in taphonomy & forensic osteology. Lots of interesting books on these subjects including this one.

pickI hope I‘m not too alone in this but reading a textbook for fun can make a cool informative experience…especially if it‘s all about deciphering bones and their context to figure out who died where and how! Forensic anthropologists are called in to identify a body/answer a legal question when there‘s not enough remaining soft tissue for a medical examiner to come to any satisfying conclusions. Thought it matched well with my bedroom poster. :)
Sometimes a good library can help your workflow much more than any amount of googling. #science #paleontology #herpetology
And these are my bones. Still trying to figure out the best way to get these safely across the country.....I think they might just have to come with us in the car. Apparently some of this stuff is illegal to possess in the state of California, but ummmm....THAT won't be a problem soon! Yes, collecting dead animals and things I found outside = criminal. pickThis was the only standards book I used throughout my anthropology undergrad career and during post-graduation field work. It is well organized, informative and easy to use. While I do wish there was more information on pathology included in the text, this is the most extensive standards book you are likely to find.
