I really liked Beautyland and the Book Riot podcast folks love this one, so I figured I‘d give it a try. I made it almost halfway through but I just don‘t care. It isn‘t grabbing me at all. So, on to the next.

This historical novel was a beautiful story of love amid the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic. The characters were all very much alive in my mind. This story will remain in my memories. It was well written and certainly worth the time I spent with it. 4.5/5⭐️

The reader will learn about The Spanish Flu and its devastation of the population around the world. If you are like me, you will do research of your own about the Spanish Flu.
Ms. Meissner has written another touching book that teaches us some history as well as teaches us about the goodness of mankind and its generosity in times of a crisis.

January is the time I use for catching up on missed books over the previous year(s). There are fewer new/shiny books distracting me from my tbr, so I‘m able to plow through it quicker! This memoir has high praise and has been on my radar for years. It‘s about family and identity, coming into one‘s own and the way language plays a part in all of these aspects of life. Quiara narrates her own story to add to the experience.

Once again, I‘m the #UnpopularOpinion 🤷🏻♀️ I had a difficult time connecting with Mary from the start & considered DNF early on but, kept on despite my reservations. However, after 58% I just could not do it anymore. The situation with Ned was beyond my threshold of ridiculousness🤦🏻♀️😂🙄.
I won‘t be carrying on with this series & it‘s also been removed from my tbr👋🏻
I remember reading this book in fifth grade and becoming so fascinated with this time in history. I will definitely want to implement this in my future classroom
