PROMPT: BRIGHT

The reader will  learn about The Spanish Flu and its devastation of the population around the world.  If you are like me, you will do research of your own about the Spanish Flu.

Ms. Meissner has written another touching book that teaches us some history as well as teaches us about the goodness of mankind and its generosity in times of a crisis.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This one was heartbreaking 💔 12h
marleed I thought it particularly interesting since it was published prior to Covid-19. I think it would be hard to write that same novel today and not interject some of the mistakes from the later pandemic. 8h

My Broken Language: A Memoir | Quiara Alegria Hudes

Pickpick

January is the time I use for catching up on missed books over the previous year(s). There are fewer new/shiny books distracting me from my tbr, so I‘m able to plow through it quicker! This memoir has high praise and has been on my radar for years. It‘s about family and identity, coming into one‘s own and the way language plays a part in all of these aspects of life. Quiara narrates her own story to add to the experience.

Soubhiville I loved this one! 21h
squirrelbrain I‘ve had this bookmarked on Everand for a loooong time! 13h

Once again, I‘m the #UnpopularOpinion 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had a difficult time connecting with Mary from the start & considered DNF early on but, kept on despite my reservations. However, after 58% I just could not do it anymore. The situation with Ned was beyond my threshold of ridiculousness🤦🏻‍♀️😂🙄.

I won‘t be carrying on with this series & it‘s also been removed from my tbr👋🏻

PuddleJumper On to better books! 2w

I remember reading this book in fifth grade and becoming so fascinated with this time in history. I will definitely want to implement this in my future classroom
