Hi fellow littens! After talking with @lemonlime799 @Soubhiville & @bookishkris this evening, we are starting a #queerbookswap to support fellow bibliophiles who may not have access to queer books. This may be because of limited library selections, lack of resources and/or the need to hide queer books from friends/roommates/family members. Many of us know what it's like to not have access to those important and diverse stories. (Cont. 👇🏽)

Yamich49 And we want to support those who want/need to read these books and don't have access to them. I have started a Google doc/spreadsheet where we can input books we have and are willing to share with others. Let's see how it goes and we can modify it as needed. Please reply to this post with your email OR email me at rezgirlreads@gmail.com if you are interested in either sharing or borrowing books. I will send you the link so you have access to it! 7y

Yamich49 Once you have access you can share it with others who might be interested. I'm doing it invite-only so we can keep random people who may not be allies off of the doc. 7y

theshrinkette I would love to do this, but don't have the funds to do it right now, nor access to a lot of queer books to send to people. This is such a good idea though! Good luck! 7y

BookishFeminist @Yamich49 I have to sort through my stacks and find the ones I have too 😬 and that's why it's a spreadsheet! Lol. Glad this is a thing now though. Bibliogeekery I would love to be added! alisauer at Gmail dot com. Shipping books internationally from Canada is very expensive so I'd also be happy to buy books for folks through Amazon and have them sent directly to them. I usually avoid Amazon like the plague but would make an exception for queer readers in need of books! 7y

bookishkai I have to go looking and see what's accessible on my bookshelves; I still have some stuff in storage. And, like @Bibliogeekery I'm also willing to purchase and ship from Amazon or another retailer. And, if anyone is wanting to read ebooks, I can work out sharing of some of the ones I have. 7y

I'm also wondering about opening this up to more folks - what do you all think? I was thinking we could reach more books and people who need them if we shared it with others on Twitter, etc... Maybe we could find a way to not use full names, etc... 7y

Yamich49 @BexCW That's great! Please let me know if any of them want/need access to the list. We could give your partner access and she could request stuff on behalf of any youth that may be in need of queer books. Or something like that. I was just thinking earlier that I'm going to get a lot of good recs for more queer books to read for myself lol. 7y

Bibliogeekery thanks! I will fill this out later! I think it's a great idea to broaden the reach of this list - that being said I don't want my name or email address going out to a lot of people. I already have trouble with lots of spam and random weirdness because of my therapy business. 😘 7y

Yamich49 @Bibliogeekery haha yeah I figured most people would feel like that. I'm toying with ideas where I (and maybe a few others) can be moderators through which people request books. I was also looking at maybe a Wordpress blog thingy that would be easier to access/manage lists of books and requests. I'll let you know when I come up with a solution that protects people's info but allows us to reach queer youth and others who need it. 7y

bookishkai @Yamich49 I don't think you can share ebooks from Amazon, but you can share certain ones from Barnes and noble, and I buy a LOT from indie publishers, mostly Riptide Publishing and Interlude Press. Those I can figure something out. 7y
