Karen Rose gives her readers impressive characters and a malicious villain, leaving you on pins and needles throughout the novel and absolutely stunned at the ending.
It is hot and dusty where we live. Some people think it's dirty but they don't know much about us. They haven't seen our gardens full of lemongrass, mint, cilantro, and basil. Driving by with their windows rolled up, they've only seen the pigeons pecking at day-old rice and the skinny cats and dogs sitting in the skinny shade of skinny trees. Have they seen the berries that we pick, that turn our lips and fingertips red?
Honestly, not great. Writing was meh. I mostly finished it because I own it and because it‘s set in the area I‘m staying. #sandiegosummer
Loved it! A romcom about a DNA-based matchmaking service that is predicted to change the the dating world forever. Jess, a single mom and statistician, believes in the reliability of numbers, but finding a soulmate with DNA? On a whim, she sends in her sample. She‘s stunned when she‘s matched at 98% compatibility with the company‘s founder, Dr. River Peña. Because she already knows him, and he cannot be her soulmate!

I absolutely devoured this! ?
A unique romcom where a matchmaking company uses DNA to find customers' "soulmate" with surprising results.
I really enjoyed the STEM theme of the science behind the matchmaking and the statistics. But, the highlight of the story was the relationship Jess had with her daughter, Juno.
Wonderfully unique, heartwarming, witty, and emotional. Perfect.
