Poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins | Gerard Manley Hopkins

TheLudicReader Love Gerard Manley Hopkins. I always use him as an example of a poet I love even though I don‘t know what he‘s talking about half the time. 13mo
TheSpineView This is a great poem. Short but love the rhythm of the verse. Great choice 13mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader Again, another thing we have in common. The kids would be stunned when they'd inevitably ask me what a certain phrase in a poem meant and I'd answer, “I have no idea, but doesn't it just sound great?“

What a gift to give your students: a love of poetry just for the sake of loving poetry. ❣️

I couldn't find the writer of this poem.

TheSpineView Sometimes people post poems anonymously. Cute one. 13mo

Note: this quote is not from this book. I just found it and I have idea where it‘s from but it‘s probably some sort of academic thing.

"Unexpectedly, Billy Pilgrim found himself upset by the song and the occasion. He had never had an old gang, old sweethearts and pals, but he missed one anyway, as the quartet made slow, agonized experiments with chords--chords intentionally sour, sourer still, unbearably sour, and then a chord that was suffocatingly sweet, and then some #sour ones again." #QuotsyAug18
