I just began reading “How music works“ by David Byrne. In this book, Byrne writes about all the things he's learned while in his long career as a musician. He talks about how music came to be and how the venues change. I am still in the first part of the book but I can tell that it is going to end up being very interesting.

I found this really interesting, particularly the thoughts on architecture and technology influencing music. I also enjoyed Byrne‘s voice, with lots of amusing asides. Worth reading if you dig music or make music, not just if you like Talking Heads; Byrne does discuss music from around the world.

I HAD to listen to Talking Heads while reading this book.

Started this today, and two chapters in, I‘m in love! I didn‘t even know previously that David Byrne wrote books, but the way he makes connections and sees patterns makes me feel like I‘m back in college (which is good 😉). So far he‘s covered the idea that music is informed and shaped by its context, and it feels so novel and so true at the same time.

I didn‘t understand much of this poem, but this is still a GREAT way to describe the talking heads in Congress right now.
