Pickpick

Binchy was an excellent writer. You feel as though you really know her characters. Her plots are interesting and keep you focused all the way to the end. The house swapping between Dublin and the United States made for an enjoyable adventure and provided escapes for some of the characters who had problems. It was an interesting Buddy Read which @Andrew65 hosted. I would highly recommend Binchy's books to those who would like to visit Ireland.

Andrew65 Great review and thanks for joining in the read and discussion. 👍 5y

EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads He has finally realized the grass isn‘t greener on the other side of the street 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB I don‘t think he is going back to her, surely she is just fooling herself. I think he is just going over there to tell her that on top of everything else she has lost the house in Tara Road as they tied that up with Barney‘s business. But why would she even think of taking him back, have some respect! 5y
TheBookHippie @EadieB YES HE HAS and ugh seriously. His brains were in the wrong place still are I'll bet!!! 5y

TheBookHippie @Andrew65 I'll never get the taking back part. Self respect !!!! Sigh. 5y
rubyslippersreads I think he felt telling her about the house in person was the right thing to do. Kind of ironic, since he did plenty of wrong things behind her back. 5y
Andrew65 @rubyslippersreads This semmed quite bizarre! (edited) 5y

Tove_Reads Wtf is wrong with Rosemary? Pretending to be a best friend, always waiting for Danny no matter what. 5y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads What‘s wrong with both of them! Both the poorest types of friends you could find. With friend like them who needs enemies. 5y
Tove_Reads I wonder though. Was he like this because of Barney setting an example, or were they friends because they were both like that to begin with? 5y

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I think he was like this to begin with, don‘t think he needed much persuading. 5y
Tove_Reads I‘ve always wondered what‘s wrong with people like this. Nothing sticks. They have the right to do what they want and no one is allowed to be offended or angry. Plus, no matter what all these badly treated people should of course always be there to help out whenever needed. 5y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Just totally selfish! All they think is about themselves. If someone says something they are in the wrong, look at some of the things he said to Ria when they were breaking up. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Totally narcissistic. They just make excuses for their behavior and it‘s always someone else‘s fault. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Totally agreed! 5y
TheBookHippie @EadieB yes narcissistic- I think most serial cheaters are and in this case I think he feels he deserves to live this way???? It's sick. He views this as success or just desserts or something ! It's crazy. That's a lot of eating your cake 😳 5y
rubyslippersreads I think Danny was always like this, but having Barney as a “mentor” didn‘t help. 😏 5y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Problem is he always wants someone else‘s cake! You can‘t have your cake and eat it! (edited) 5y
Andrew65 @rubyslippersreads It didn‘t help, but I still think he would be like this. 5y

Tove_Reads Children, non-judgemental, honestly interested. 5y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I don‘t think she had much choice with Brian and his lack of tact! He has me in stitches. Yes easier to talk about it to children. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Brian will ask the questions innocently and Marilyn will feel more comfortable than with another adult. 5y

EadieB @Andrew65 Marilyn is still dealing with it. A lot of times the death of a child will put a definite strain on a marriage. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Amazing how often it splits couples apart. 5y
