EadieB @Klou This series is a culmination of a lot of his books. It's really best to read his other books as you see references throughout the series and you would get more out of the series if you read his other books.

One of the most important books of the series as Roland joins forces with Eddie Dean and Odetta Holmes (Susannah Dean) to save the dark tower. It is rich in symbol and allegory. This is my 2nd time reading and I did enjoy it more than the Gunslinger. I liked that this book brought Roland to New York. Roland meets a new adversary, Jack Mort. Looking forward to the next book, The Waste Lands.
