#weRemember #TomWolfe Clarify please . I assumed you all were referring to Tom Wolfe who wrote Bonfire of the Vanities (1930-2018) and not Thomas Wolfe who wrote Look Homeward Angel & You Can‘t Go Home Again (1900-1938) 🤔I like both anyway. The more contemporary Tom is on the right.

Eggs Yes that‘s all true!! 3y

#WeRemember Day 4: Over the years, I have acquired a fair bit of #TomWolfe titles usually through book sales in Singapore. Here is my book haul that included Tom Wolfe titles: https://wp.me/pDlzr-eZ2

His daughter was in my class at Duke (never crossed paths), and apparently this was based on her time there. I haven‘t read it, but I don‘t think it‘s one of his more popular novels. It‘s been on my TBR forever just for the connection.

Megabooks @BarbaraBB what did you think? 3y
BarbaraBB It was a long time ago and I liked though not as much as 3y
BarbaraBB Very cool though that it‘s set at Duke‘s. I didn‘t notice at the time - or didn‘t pay attention to that fact! 3y
tokorowilliamwallace I think I got through 2/3s of it while I had it checked out from the library (likely using up all the renewals I could), but I thought the character of Charlotte Simmons really worked well and sparkled. I think we need more female protagonists like her. 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB @tokorowilliamwallace I think it‘s time I got around to it this year! 3y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks I would if I were you. I remember it as a real campus novel; the Duke setting will probably be very recognizable to you. 3y

Wolfe was one-of-a-kind. The tagged book was first published in 1968 and I read it in college in 1971 - his personal experiences interacting/interviewing people involved with the late 1960's counterculture revolution.

Ed Clark‘s “Winter Bitch” at the Whitney in NYC.

This books has given me a lot when it comes to “understanding” modern art. But sometimes I get tired of all the theory and just want to see some technical paintings.

What art do you love?

« On the night of January 4, 1970, Maestro and Mrs. Leonard Bernstein threw a bash in their thirteen-room park Avenue pad to raise money for the Black Panthers Defense Fund. » Tom Wolfe roasts New York society.
