This book has caused me to take out my knitting needles after 3 years… it is not going well. I‘m not exactly back at square one, but oh boy do I have issues with my stitches being WAY too tight again. I also ended up picking up a stitch somewhere at one point, then later dropping two, so it‘s been a wild ride today. Maybe I shall forever be a crocheter. 🤷🏼‍♀️

GingerAntics @AnnCrystal I‘m definitely better at crochet. I‘ve also heard that you can crochet faster than you can knit. Dunno if that‘s actually true or not… for some reason, I feel like I‘ve failed at knitting somehow. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I‘m a bleeding perfectionist. 2w

GingerAntics @AnnCrystal I also tend to drop and pick up stitched while crocheting, too. I‘m not sure what my problem is, but my stitches never look as clean and obvious as pictures and videos online. 2w

AnnCrystal Crocheting feels faster, and my work are not perfect with, but I 'm cool with that. For me, enjoying the craft is most important, and perfection is completely accidental 😂😉👌🏼💝💝💝. 2w

GingerAntics @AnnCrystal totally fair. I found something online that might help with my tension issues and help me relax my hands a bit. I‘m also very excited to try some knee yarn that doesn‘t unravel as you use it, so I can practice with it. 2w

I picked up a packet of Clover Weaving Sticks some time ago, but they seem intimidating. Have you tried these? 2w

He speaks with authority, so it‘s reasonable to say he‘s trustworthy. WHAT?! That is not how it works. He was a man of caution, so we can trust him. REALLY? We could describe Henry VI was “cautious” but I wouldn‘t trust him with my pet rock. Does this woman know how logic works? She was a history teacher? I‘m terrified of what she taught her students.

Sophronisba I am almost a year late to this party -- and I think I actually liked The Princes in the Tower more than you did -- but this kind of logic is legion in Weir's books. In Mistress of the Monarchy her entire argument that John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford didn't commit adultery when her husband was alive is that John of Gaunt _told_ the Pope that they didn't, and he wouldn't have lied to the Pope. 3y

GingerAntics @Sophronisba 🤣😂🤣 wow really? Britney Spears told the pope she was a virgin, and I didn‘t believe that either. I‘ve heard this about her work, that she doesn‘t use the best sources or logic. I think I removed any more of her books from my TBR after I finished this one. She‘s not really helping the case of female historians. It drives me nuts. She‘s literally costing other women jobs. 3y

What?! He‘s actually concerned with her feeling coerced; even though, he controls everything about their relationship? It‘s on his terms or not at all (see New Moon), but he‘s worried she‘s feeling coerced? I don‘t know what to do with this.

Middlemarch (Revised) | George Eliot

I‘ve listened to the first 6 chapters. They seem disjointed and I‘m not sure how things tie together. I don‘t particularly like any of the characters. The book feels like random prattling on. Maybe I‘m not smart enough for this book. Maybe this isn‘t my wheelhouse. I have no idea. I‘ll give this a few more days. Hopefully it comes together sooner rather than later.

GingerAntics Rebecca Mead made me really want to read this book. She made me feel her passion and love for this book. I just had to experience it for myself. Sadly, I don‘t get it.

jmofo I doubt it, but maybe reading a critique of her writing or this book might help. I am a serious ambler with no direction and the humor was so subtle and sort of depressing, I just ate it all up. 7y
