Not sure what the fuss was all about. Takes a long time to get to the meat, then leaves you hanging at the end. For the second book. Seriously? The positive stuff: the lovely peculiar kids, the eerie photographs and some bits of good writing - but then again, two pages are devoted to the smashing of a suitcase!!

Couldn't put it down - that doesn't mean it's a great book. Just fast paced & easy to read - & I wanted to get to the end. The premise was intriguing, but somehow it didn't amount to much. Could have been way more taut, less repetitive and the characters needed more depth. On to the next!

Humanistic sci-fi at its best. Terrifying and wonderful all at once. And the writing? Sheer poetry!

I'm not sure why this one has got such bad reviews. It was thoroughly enjoyable and such a fast read. Yes, you do miss the vivid descriptions from the series, and being inside Harry's head, but reading this 'play' was like meeting old friends from the wizarding world! Loved it!!

My first sci-fi :-) Loved it! Even the (large) bits that I couldn't understand. What a page turner!

Was expecting a lot of richness from this one considering the subject matter - the pioneering Lindberghs, the kidnapping of their baby, their troubled marriage. But got a martyr-like, long suffering protagonist instead of the quiet strength of Ann Morrow Lindbergh, whom it is based on. Oh well. :-/

The *best* chick-lit I've ever read. I'm Not a big fan of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series but this one is fab! Hilarious and charming. Plus, I just have a thing for British fiction....

This is such an immensely satisfying book. The story of a Sufi mystic Rumi and his spiritual companion, Shams of Tabriz, runs parallel to the story of a dissatisfied New Jersey housewife. Lovely and satisfying - there, I'm stuck on that word now.

There aren't many fictional novels set in the Mughal Era of India - not nearly enough for me. One such lovely book is The Twentieth Wife. A love story, a political saga and a historical, this gorgeous book, as one critic says, 'satisfies every craving for the finery and charm of India's past'.

How amazing that a set of essays written in 1955 on love, relationships and women still resonates to this day. Wise, thought provoking and insightful, this is a gem of a little book!
