Nope. No explanation was given for the situation these women found themselves in, and given that it was a highly unusual situation (they were in what seemed like a prison for being promiscuous/implying promiscuity or just being human beings complete with sexuality) that was really necessary. I don't mind being left w/ questions at the end of a book, but this was ridiculous.

I'm officially obsessed with this sci-fi series, which is a phrase I never thought I'd say. It's really action-packed and the world building is complex, if a bit intense at times (how many colors are there? What do they all do? Don't quiz me), but I couldn't put any of the books down. I was stress-drinking towards the end of Morning Star, and I need to reread them again ASAP. Also, Mustang is a BAMF.

This whole series has been a ride, and considering how much everyone in the Tearling has experienced, this was probably the most fitting end. I'd call it bittersweet, but I can't say that it was actually either of those things. It gave me what I wanted, without making any of it easy.
I look really happy here but this is me four days ago, after I found it in a bookstore early, and before I started reading it.

It's going to be a long time until I recover from this book. Fists were pumped, tears were shed, and maybe there was a small glimmer of hope at the end? The smaller moments and comments and (rape) jokes left an impression just as much as the larger, more dramatic scenes.

Starting my third book this weekend. One good thing about participating in a #readathon - my momentum usually continues for a good week afterward.

A bit conflicted about this book. On the one hand it was an intense character study - on the other hand that character made me cringe every other page. It is described as Hitchcockian in the blurb, and I'd agree. You just have to get through a lot of descriptions of bodily functions to get there.

My newest #TBR shelves; most recent acquisition is Pond by Claire-Louise Bennett. Thanks to my husband for surprising me with the shelf on the right; until then, all these books were stuffed into the smaller shelf on the left.

This is about a woman who has a psychic connection to an ancient god, and an old conflict between different races. Obviously the art is beautiful, and it's not limited to the cover, I'm glad to say. The story is much more complex than many other graphic novels I've read, which means a) it takes more effort to understand, and b) it takes longer to read. Neither of those were a bad thing to me! P.S. I love Kippa and Ren!

I have weird, violent dreams sometimes. I like to read before bed but combine my normal dreams with The Bone Clocks and what do you get? Yep. Some weird-ass creepy dreams.

This series is fun so far, I can see why so many people like it. They are fairly long books but they are also quick reads. I'll keep going with it but for now I am getting a little bit tired of sci-fi & fantasy.
