It was all right
It was all right
Boring-ass historical fiction about finance and mental health sadness and suffering. Made it 2/3 through hoping it'd get better
Reading through 200+ pages of a group of people all yelling at each other and threatening to harm each other... Honestly feel like this book gave me the flu. Avoid
800 pages of Thorgil Thorgilsson pirating around, forming blood feuds, exchanging giant rings and gilded swords, and "discovering" Canada. Did you know Vikings named it Greenland as a marketing tactic? So more Norsemen would want to move to that desolate place and keep them company.
Loved it
Uh I guess it started out pretty good but this is just action comics for repressed men back in the 1200s. Really really drawn-out, really ridiculous, what feels like 100+ pages of “and the very brave strong brave brave man easily defeated ~8000 enemies because of how brave he was“ give me a break. We get it, you think women are conniving. She just wanted a nice husband you jerks
edit: there IS a dude named Dankwart though (pronounced Dank Fart)
Um it's knights in brocaded silk roaming around and bedding maidens and killing earls and plucking the beard hairs off of strong men while they're knocked out (followed by killing them?). It's kind of a mess but don't worry, every maiden is the most beautiful woman possible: skin as white as a swan's ass, lips redder than the reddest blood, hair as blonde as broom flowers?, wearing brocaded silk, snow white booba, eyes like beautiful eyes-
It's like the prose edda but they are written more like poetry? Some parts dull as hell where they re-tell the same story 19 times (Sigmund!!!)
Snorri kept me from snorrin with this thrilling collection of tales where Thor constantly smashes his hammer on anyone he meets
Conclusion really goes off the rails imo but how could it not have
The second part of the trilogy, arguably more interesting than the first
edit: in retrospect i dont like it
Maybe young adult books are not so bad. I will be reading this trilogy
edit months later: maybe young adult books are not so bad but this trilogy does not prove this sorry it's really messed up
I know folks who relate real good to this one and enjoyed it, but count me as a folk who relate real good to this one and not really enjoyed it
Kurt sure do be working through his post war trauma in all his writings. Also he's very horny in this one
Yea I read this book and yea his money should be redistributed
Anarcho primitivism intro book with a funny monke and can help teach a few things I suppose
Pretty good intro book about eating a bit better I suppose
Je penses qu'il y a plus de verite dans ce livre que dans la merde que les nouvelles nous ditent
I mighta liked this more if I were younger but a lil island adventure kinda. It's fine
Babby's first foray into the specifics of how the economy is fucked up and how the US has played a role in glassing every single lefty attempt at government in the last 100 years
I loved the part of the book where my partner gave all the characters unique voices
Tony Tony Chopper is short for Tony Tony Tony Tony Chopper
Wholesome series about a stretchy child who starts the revolution to end all revolutions. 100/100
Fuck this boring-ass "what if everyone around you was a jock doing wars and politics and space travel I just want to write an encyclopedia for God's sake!!" crap
Piss
I liked the ambiance of this one but it ain't for everyone. Short thoe
Been a while but this was an enjoyable romp in jolly ol England. A bit preachy!!!
#witchgang
Ah it's aight I guess. Too many names. Good food descriptions
I'm told it's a classic and iunno it's a short read and kinda fun and while it reeks of "kids these days! Better watch out, what if we enter degeneracy with these new fangled machines" it sticks the landing in a refreshing way
I liked these and if they cut out all the Rohan and Gondor parts I think I'd be happier. More Bombadil pls. Less angry Gandalf you're a mega wise ancient magic etc. etc. why you so dang crotchety c'mon son
