This wasn't my favorite of all her books but it was still a good, quick read! 3.5 stars out of 5.

It took me an entire month to read this...it was super slow in parts and addicting in others. I'm not sure if I'll finish the series...should I?
I am excited to see how this all plays out in the show!

Coleen This series was esp. addicting on audio, if you're partial to that format. 7y
Dineanddish Oh I love audio books! I hate to quit the series but maybe listening is the way to finish it. Thank you! 7y

I absolutely loved this book...fascinating historical fiction that makes me want to dig up more information. (Great audiobook narration as well).

I really really want to love using the library but why oh why do they have to put the shiny book covers on alllll the books? Don't they know reflective surfaces make for tough picture taking? 😂😂😂.

I feel like I am the only person who didn't love this book. It felt un-finished and I struggled with the authors somewhat complacency about her life. I was hooked right at the beginning but then it just unsettled me the more I read.
I will add, this was a very courageous book despite my overall feelings.

Started today & already overcome. Wow.
"“This is what most girls are taught—that we should be slender and small. We should not take up space. We should be seen and not heard, and if we are seen, we should be pleasing to men, acceptable to society. And most women know this, that we are supposed to disappear, but it‘s something that needs to be said, loudly, over and over again, so that we can resist surrendering to what is expected of us.”

When you sit through what seems like a zillion kids to watch your kid for 5 minutes at a swim meet, you bring a book! Bonus reading time.

First off, does anyone else wonder what happened to Laura's cat? I've worried about the poor thing ever since the first chapter!
This book had a few holes but was a good "mystery on the high seas" type thriller. If you are claustrophobic at all, or fearful of being in wide open water, reading this book may trigger a sense of panic inside of you at times. Definitely don't read it if you plan on cruising anytime soon ?

ilayreading Don't take this book on a cruise...good to know!!! 7y
GidgetGrlReading Love that you sound like me about pets that are mentioned and then forgotten. What did happen to that cat! 7y
Dineanddish @GidgetGrlReading it annoys me! The cat was such a big part of things the first couple chapters then nothing the rest of the book! 7y

Beartown: A Novel | Fredrik Backman

Mehso-so

I struggled with Beartown just because it was so slow at the beginning, really picked up in the middle, then my attention waned towards the end. I wanted to love it but just didn't, which I know is not the norm for this book! (I listened on audio...loved the narrator but maybe this book would be better in print).

MrBook Not every book is a winner 😕. 95! It's hot there! 7y
Dineanddish @MrBook yes it is!! And that was 7 at night. Gotta love summer 😂 7y

Fun!
1) Kansas City
2) Lots of book-ish people were mentioning it on Instagram! I had to check it out and am so glad I did. (Why is it suddenly getting so much attention? Anyone?)
3) I thought The Light Between Oceans was so beautifully done as a movie!
4) We used to go to summer camp and had to find, paint and take a box turtle with us for turtle races at camp. We'd always set them free at the end of camp though!
@saguarosally #welcomelitten

intothehallofbooks I still need to read + see The Light Between Oceans! I've been meaning to read it for ages so I can watch it. 7y
Dineanddish @intothehallofbooks oh you must! Just for the cinema-graphics alone even. It's filmed so beautifully! 7y

The Happiness Project | Gretchen Rubin

I read The Happiness Project several years ago and it absolutely changed my life! I was drowning in kid and work responsibilities and taking very little time to focus on my happiness. Reading, for one, which brings me such joy took a backseat.
I'm now a self proclaimed "ambassador of happiness" all thanks to how this book changed me!

Jess_Read_This I bought this book ages ago with the good intention to read it... and it still sits on my shelf. I may have to pull it down after hearing your recommendation! 7y
Dineanddish @Jess_Read_This definitely read it! I know it seems dramatic but it really did change my life :) 7y

To me Hygge means cozy, comforting and inviting. Although this book didn't have a lot of eye opening advice for creating a Hygge life, it was an enjoyable read and had some really fascinating tidbits about how the Danish live! #hygge

GidgetGrlReading I have How To Hygge. It's good really like the concept of it. 7y
