I think I've got a new appreciation for this book. Originally Umbridge was such a vile character and Harry was so angry I found it off putting. However, with time and additional readings I found I really enjoyed this. I had more empathy for Harry, more admiration for his friends (shouts to Neville), and enjoyment of the foreshadowing. It's moved up my Potter power rankings.

Still my favorite of the series and that's saying something. The are so many hidden gems in this book, and the tension and the emotion in the last few chapters makes my chest tight just thinking about it. Simply a wonderful read.

This is still one of my favorites, the first transition from a childlike story to a deeper, darker tale. Plenty of foreshadowing and several moments that highlight Rowling's mastery of her craft. Expanding the world of Hogwarts and Hogsmead with the secret passages and the story behind them. Not to mention the complex relationships for Harry and his parent's friends.

Wow, well this was a fun and intriguing read. Full of an interesting blend of fantasy and psuedo- history. It kinda rambled a little towards the middle, but found its footing in a tragic and awesome way. Very enjoyable, and I look forward to the following volumes.

This was powerful, and beautiful. Told by someone that dearly loves and misses her home. Her passion and belief in her mission comes through along with her sacrifice. I found so many parts of this illuminating about Pakistani life in the Swat Valley before and after the Taliban.

This was a fun and interesting sci fi read with an extremely likeable main character. I found it fascinating learning about the challenges of living on the moon in a complex and compact society. An engrossing tale that had me hooked right from the get- go.

What can I say? It's a classic, very enjoyable and a good reread. *spoiler* I know it was part of the story line and all, but I found it funny/dickish that Harry never offered to buy Ron a new wand after his broke. I mean 7 galleons, nothing to Harry and Ron needed a functioning wand to pass exams if they had taken place. All worked out, but still, c'mon Potter be more generous! 😁

Well, my mom suggested this one to me (even loaned me the book😂) and you know what? I enjoyed it. I really did, for what it was I was thoroughly entertained. Was it deep compelling literature that moved me fundamentally? No, but those books aren't exactly common, and this was purely entertainment for me and I was entertained.

Wow! How to unpack this book? I'm not sure, but I will be thinking about it for a long time, which is to say it is a great book. Very well written, with multilayer and complex characters, full with backstories. Several narratives at once come to a head and show how the marks we make may not be visible but scar us just the same. Our fears/ courage can have vast effects on those around us without us realizing it.

Well, this book started strongly with lots of interesting history and interviews but finished poorly and was a slog. It is written in the fashion of a sports page column, which can be good, but over time felt very repetitive and trite. I definitely learned more about a great football coach and a lot of the behind the scenes, though my enjoyment was definitely tempered by the end.

Always a good escape, and I needed one after knee surgery

I found this telling gripping and difficult to put down. Beautifully rendered story that brings life to Greek mythology(history?) in a brilliant fashion.

This was a powerful and moving memoir. Much like Tuesday's with morrie, but more personal. Beautiful writing and powerful prose.

I enjoyed this look at how a small- market team found wins at the margins using a combination of analytics and coaching to help end the longest stretch of losing in north American sports. Well written, researched, and told.

This book was mostly a collection of short stories that were based on interpretations of older writings. It was fun and entertaining, but I felt a lacking from the format that made it hard to really get into a good flow of the story

This was an excellent book, well deserving of its many accolades. Showcasing the importance of our choices and the influences we choose to surround ourselves with in the midst of a postmodern north America. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I grabbed this book on the strength of a recommendation and the whim of my local library displaying it. It was a fascinating drive into the statistics (oxymoron, I know!) of what makes the latest generation to reach adulthood unique. The things that drive them, their tendencies, and their outlooks, all generated by 11 million surveys of the members of iGen. As a teacher, I found it fascinating and enlightening.
