This book was intense but very good. I‘m a fan of this series, and although Mick Kennedy is not my favorite protagonist, she writes him very well, and the story itself is excellent.
Highly recommend!

What an excellent, eye opening, heartbreaking book. I never knew much about the Irish potato famine, other than that there was a potato blight that lead to food shortages and mass emigration to the US.

This book tells the story of that famine, and how while the blight may have destroyed the potatoes, it was English imperial policy that caused the famine. It‘s a history that deserves to be remembered, and this book does it great justice.

I have a great big soft spot for the alphabet series. I‘ve read the bulk of the series over the past 15 years, all out of order, and I was happy to finally see where it all began.

Kinsey in this book isn‘t quite the Kinsey I‘ve gotten to know through the rest of the series. This was definitely a first pass at the character, it felt a little unformed.

Ultimately, it was a fun read and it kept me entertained, which was what I wanted from it. 3⭐️

There‘s a reason Dracula has burrowed its way deep into our culture: it‘s a fun, compelling, completely absorbing read, even over a century after it was written. I just wish I had read it sooner. It‘s now on my list of all time favorites!

A good Pile-o-books haul from a used book store. Some of these were gifts, Russka was so good I can hardly stand it, and I still have Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell on my tbr shelf. I should really get to it, because I‘m absolutely sure I would love it.

Caitlin Doughty is a gem, a treasure, a very sparkly thing. She approaches death with a mix of frankness, respect, genuine feeling, and humor that is absolutely delightful. I love basically everything she does.
