Unlike some of the more extreme dytopia/post-apocalyptic stories I've read, Dies the Fire is the one that gives me nightmares. And I cant read about what Junie finds at the Fairfax place without tears.

Solid #4 in my current fave series in the Urban Fantasy genre. Mostly police procedural, with just a touch of magic and supernatural beings.
Perhaps it's just the British backdrop, but I always feel echoes of Lord Darcy when reading about PC Grant and his mates.
Worth starting this series at the beginning and going in order.
Bounty from Week 10 of the CSA
Older son & I went blackberry & raspberry picking this weekend. Was too busy making jam, triple berry clafoutis & blackberry coffee cake to read much.
I recommend the Ball "Blue Book" to anyone just starting out making jam. You don't need specialized gear, just 2 large pots, a ladle, a sturdy pair of tongs & SOMETHING to keep the jars off the bottom of the pot (a clean wash cloth works)

I'm surprised by how many people were tackling serious books and classic literature during #24in48 at least compared to what came across my feed during Deweys #readathon
Or maybe its just the serendipity of who I've met during my short time on Litsy.
Any suggestions of how to find the YA cafe?
I had a good, productive weekend even though I didn't squeeze in as much #24in48 as I'd hoped
I did finish Children of Earth and Sky (300 pages read, about 6 or 7 hours). It was OK, but didn't have the magic of The Lions of El Rassan or Tigana.
I started Words in the Dust (listened to 2.5 hrs) and am enjoying it.
So approximately 9 hours read/listened out of my target of 12. Blueberry jam made, and life lived.
Good night #24in48
Read about 200 pages in Children of Earth and Sky after dinner. There's about 100 pages left, but I'm heading for bed.
Happy reading to those in other time zones or those who are spending time with books instead of pillows tonight.
Today has been expectedly full of Kempo, the Farmers Market, and cooking up this week's CSA bounty. I've listened to about 2 hours of the Words in the Dust audiobook and am enjoying it so far.
Hope to get some time to read for #24in48 this evening, though jam-making got pushed to after dinner because we were out of lemons.

Good morning #24in48 It's #readathon time 😍
I spent part of last night Browsing the book summaries on www.audiobooksync.com and have decided to start Words in the Dust by Trent Reedy as the audiobook for this very busy day
I succumbed to the lure of #24in48
Because this weekend is already jam packed, My goals are much more modest than this stack implies:
Read/listen for 12 hours
Read Agent of Change from The Dragon Variations omnibus (ILL book)
Listen to one of the audiobooks downloaded from Audiobooksync
After that I haven't decided whether I will finish Children of Earth and Sky or be in the mood for something else
