This book actually gave me chills and had me hiding under my comforter in bed while reading it. Now I'm definitely curious to read Miranda's first book, because I really enjoyed this one.

Hey litsy friends! I haven't been around for a while, I've been working my way slowly through this book. Life has been busy lately...so I'm taking advantage of this chilly Saturday afternoon to cuddle up with a blanket and read 📖

Started listening to this audiobook on my 4 hour ride home to my parents' house for the holiday weekend. It pulled me in immediately. Can't wait to keep listening!

Just finished this ARC that I received from NetGalley. Wow! This was not what I was expecting, but was such a great read. One of Lydia's regulars at the bookstore where she works commits suicide at the shop, with a picture of Lydia from her childhood in his pocket. Lydia's attempt to figure out why he had this picture drags her down into a rabbit's hole that brings her terrible past bubbling back up to the surface. I highly recommend this one.

I gobbled up this ARC in about three sittings over the weekend. I used to enjoy McMahon's books but thought the past two were just kind of meh. This one brought me back. While I figured out some of the twists fairly quickly, I still enjoyed reading along to see how they were going to be unpackaged. You do have to suspend belief at parts as there are some supernatural elements to the story, but overall I really enjoyed it.

Oh my goodness. What can I even say?? I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. Probably one of my favorite books in years. I'm so glad I finally picked it up - this is one of those books that you wish you could read again for the first time for that magical experience. Love love love.

Jillsandypants I agree! My son keeps asking for a VR headset, and I can't help but think of this book every time he brings it up. 3y

My little man decided to jump in my lap while I was trying to get a pic for my review. I got this ARC of Chevy Stevens' new book, but I have to say her books usually leave me feeling unsatisfied. This was no exception. Lots of red herrings which somehow made the final plot twist less exciting.

I received an arc of this book and I have mixed feelings. I found myself unsympathetic towards the narrator for a variety of reasons throughout the book, though I kept reading because I wanted to know why her boyfriend left her. I saw some of the reveal coming early in the book but on the whole I was surprised by the last 100 or so pages of the book. I think I'll be mulling my feelings over on this one for a while.

I absolutely loved this book. It was filled with pop culture references and every crazy apocalypse-themed trope you can think of - except each one has a crazy twist you'd never expect (Jamaica caused the end of the world as we know it with monkey rockets??) If you're looking for a cute story that doesn't take itself too seriously, I'd definitely recommend this.

Welcome to Night Vale: A Novel | Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor

Pickpick

Another book that was a little slow to start but that I ended up really enjoying. I love the Welcome to Night Vale podcast and so this was a must-read for me. I adored getting to know some of the residents of the strange town through this book and hope the authors write another. This quirky book definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it was a nice break from my usual reads.

Jillsandypants Is it necessary to have heard the podcast first before reading the book? I've been thinking about this one. 3y
Jerseygirldani It's not necessary, but there are quite a few nods to references from the podcasts. I've only listened to Season One of the podcast so there are probably a ton of references that I missed myself. I would say listening to the podcast probably enhances the book but isn't necessary. 3y

Only the Welcome to Night Vale authors would name one of the town restaurants the Missing Frog Salad Bar. Love it.

I loved the second half of this book but the beginning was just so slow. In reading reviews, I seem to be in the minority with this thought, however. Now what to read next, that is the question...

Wasn't feeling this for almost the first half of the book...then there was a twist! While I'm happy it's getting more interesting, I'm still disappointed that it's taken so long.

Not sure how I feel about this one. It was a cute story with an interesting premise but it definitely wasn't high quality literature but any means. Plus, as I said, the back and forth between the authors just made me uncomfortable at times rather than making me laugh. I am curious to read more Lisa Lutz to see how her writing is when she isn't sharing the process with an ex boyfriend.

What a strange little concept of a book this is... Author Lisa Lutz decided to get together with her ex to write a book in alternating chapters. They include footnotes and letters written to one another at the end of each chapter to comment on what happened or what they think should happen next. Sometimes the snark in their letters makes me laugh, sometimes it makes me uncomfortable and hopeful they are playing it up 😳😉 curious what will happen!

Suzze It was an interesting concept. In my Goodreads review I said "Did it work? Sort of." 3y

Listened to some of this on my travels this holiday season. Having Jenny Lawson narrate the audiobook made it so much better and there were definitely moments I found myself laughing out loud by myself in my car, which doesn't happen often. Can't wait to finish it.

Reading this book is almost as much fun as listening to the podcasts. Only downfall is not having Cecil Baldwin's deep velvety smooth voice in my ear.
