A beautiful setting full of horrible people! I hated every single one of these characters. 🙈 When two couples (plus one couple‘s daughter) go on vacation together to Europe, they expect a fun, relaxing time. But in the small town of Siracusa, everything begins to fall apart.
I just hard a really hard time connecting with this book. The characters were deeply unlikeable and the plot was a little slow and introspective for me. ⭐️⭐️
I thought the book was an ok quick read. The positive was the setting of the book. The negative was that All the characters are unappealing, I did not care what happened to them.
This book tempted me back when it was a #BOTM pick, so when I came across it in the ship's library it felt like kismet. I enjoyed this domestic noir about two couples and their (interesting, shall we say?) vacation in Italy. Nothing particularly shocking and no one is likable, but I was glued to the pages start to finish.
I just recommended this book to @AnnieD so it‘s fresh in my mind. I absolutely loved this one. What was meant to be an idyllic vacation to Sicily turned out to be anything but. #laislabonita #MOvember
Just finished this on audio while I reorganize my clothes. I‘d say it‘s time for my biannual closet purge! Thanks to my love of all things thrifted or on sale, I end up with way too much clothing. Although I refuse to ever say I have too many books ♥️
This book was brilliant! I throughly enjoyed it!
I think this was probably a better audiobook than book. The four main characters were narrated by four separate actors including #JohnSlattery from Mad Men. Two terrible couples on vacation in Italy. The travel references were very nice—felt like I was on vacation.
Part 8/9 of the home-library tour continues. ☺️
Sorry for the lighting on the next few pics, lol. 🙈
Do you own any of these? Have you read any?

Book club book. Not really into it but I will try to push through. #EstherIsabellaSunshine assisting. #DogsofLitsy #WHPG
A novel following 2 couples on a trip to Italy and unveiling their secrets, Siracusa is full of despicable characters. It‘s a fast read that‘s similar to a train wreck in the sense that you don‘t want to look away. I feel like I need to thoroughly wash after reading this yet I appreciate the book.

A couple from New York and a couple from Portland, Maine decide to vacation together in Italy. Lizzie and Finn are ex-lovers who have an on again off again email flirtation. Their spouses don‘t know . I didn‘t really like anyone in this book. But I couldn‘t stop reading. I had my suspicions ( I was right) This is a fast easy read about some seriously dysfunctional relationships. Between a pick and a so-so.
Just started this one- but the characters are not likeable- not sure about this book.
Hmmm. Not exactly thrilling and the characters were all just awful, but the structure was interesting, and I blew through this in a day. I didn‘t hate it, but didn‘t love it either.
My library does this thing where you can buy a little plastic bag for $4 and fill it with books from their sale section. I saw that little bag and thought, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! 😁📚 This was what I was able to fit in there! The bag broke when I got to my car, but hey, at least I got it that far! 🤣 #bookhaul #librarylove
The novel's greatest strength lies in the compelling characterization that doesn't falter once from start to finish. The plot is reasonably unbelievable & enticing. Honestly, this book is worth a read just for the absolutely startling characters & the hilarity that is their unraveling throughout the plot. The story does some weaving between past/present which can get a bit confusing & I had a pretty good idea about where things were going. 3.5⭐️
Only a short read and a little confusing to start with, due to the different perspectives. However I didn‘t see the twist at the end....
A fast-paced #vacationread about a couples trip (+ shy/quiet/odd daughter trip?) to Italy. Secrets. Will. Be. Revealed.
I feel like the ending was rushed. I enjoyed it but I'm not sure if it's one I'd read again. I vote: get it from your library and if you enjoy it then buy it.
Just realized the bookmark I chose for the book. It's only been in there for 133 pages 🤦♀️😂
#getawaysgonewrong #sizzlinsummerbooks I missed yesterday's bookish photo prompt, but this book was pretty god but these people😝
I know I've posted this book before...but it's soooo good!!! This definitely works for #GetawaysGoneWrong and I loved it! @Tiffy_Reads #sizzlinsummerreads
My shelves are growing out of control in my tiny one bedroom apartment. Decided that after work today I would get rid of some of the things I've read before and don't plan to read again. Where to start?
I have a subtle feeling I'll regret this later when I've made a bigger mess than I started with. 😂🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Have had this ARC since last year, just finished. I have to admit, I was hoping for more. Review will be on the blog this week. 3⭐️

One of my favorite books of 2016 certainly fits the prompt for #taintedlove. The setting of the book, on the Ionian Sea, is idyllic, and the two couples vacationing together seem to be your average, every day married couples. Appearances can be deceiving though, and the trip seems to bring out all the cracks in the two relationships. This is the perfect summer beach read. If you've read any other books by this author, tell me! #junetunz
I hated this book. It was smug, pointless and a waste of my time for every minute it stole from me.
Talky, mawky and New Yorky, this was every kind of wrong. Everything about this book felt written, composed, scripted. I couldn't wait for it to finish and couldn't have been less surprised by the denouement.
This was a novel utterly unburdened by any ambition. Weightless and gutless. Ugh.
Black and white book, black and white sheets.
What, like you've never matched your bedtime reading to your bed? I thought everyone did that. 😉
Started this ARC before we left for our vacay...one of my main goals is to read all of the ARCs that I accumulated last year. #siracusa #arc #domestictheiller
#day14 #maybookflowers Some of my recent reads have had some particularly questionable mothering skills on display!!! 😳😳😳#booksaboutmothers
One of my guilt pleasures in reading is bad marriage. I don't know if that's good or bad thing haha.
Not bad, but not great. Several of the characters annoyed the ever living shit out of me, so I would recommend reading it in print, not audio like I did.
It's kind of hard to put my finger on exactly why I didn't like it, but it was just meh to me. I think I wanted more of everything: more plot, more action, more details of the setting. Idk. Just meh.
Good lord, Taylor is such an insufferable character! Ephron rendered her character really well because I seriously want to punch her for being THAT snobby and annoying and breathing down her teen daughter's neck while treating her like a toddler. Ugh! 🖕🏼😤👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼😂
Just in from the library! It sounds great, but I've seen some negative reviews. I'm willing to give it a chance. 💁🏻
#RockinMay Day 5 Everybody knows the story about "Brenda & Eddie" well this novel is about Lizzie & Finn! It's delicious, sinister, hipster and just enough snarkiness to keep the readers on edge. It's the perfect beach read and features #scencesFromanItalianRestaurant which will leave you laughing and cringing! If you like, unlikeable characters and have a thing for precocious 10 year olds, this is a must read!!!
Another polarizing book. It finally became available through my library, so I jumped all over it. #deweysreadathon #springcleaningreadathon #readathon
So I had really high hopes for this book, but ultimately I felt pretty lukewarm about it when I finished. The first half of the book dragged along, and the jump from character to character felt more repetitive than compelling. The last half of the book was much better, but right when it got interesting the book ended! 😩
That feeling when you're the next person in line on a library hold and you're like OH C'MON ALREADY.
😂😇🤓

Nice audio book. Enjoyed the four different characters read by different actors. Big plus!!!! Talia Balsam and John Slattery (IRL husband and wife) portraying one of the couples. The story was enjoyable, but not my favorite. The reading of the audiobook, I really really enjoyed that.
