Not a snowy egret, but whenever I see any egret or heron I think back to reading Eudora Welty's "A Still Moment" over a rainy winter break spent in a little house on a red dirt road outside of Pensacola.

Started reading this 11 years ago, when I was 20, but didn't get around to finishing it. I've since read Housekeeping and a few of her essays, so I think I'm ready to dive back in.

Picked up this nice Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition of three Edith Wharton novels. Hope to get around to at least one of them soon. Too bad they got Franzen to write the introduction instead of someone legitimately interesting.
