Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Oh, the Places You'll Go! | Dr. Seuss
175 posts | 248 read | 10 to read
A perennial favorite, Dr. Seuss's wonderfully wise graduation speech is the perfect send-off for children starting out in the world, be they nursery school, high school, or college grads! From soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a Lurch on a prickle-ly perch, Dr. Seuss addresses life's ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the success that lies within. In a starred review, Booklist notes: "Seuss's message is simple but never sappy: life may be a 'Great Balancing Act,' but through it all 'There's fun to be done.'" From the Hardcover edition.

I know that this book is kinda cliché as a graduation gift, but I received it as a baby gift for one of my girls - what a great idea! I have had each of her teachers sign it at the end of the school year & plan to present it to her at graduation (she's currently a freshman). So, now I give it as a baby gift with a note suggesting the same. I'm only sorry that I didn't get it as a baby gift for my older daughter!

“Oh, the Places You'll Go!“ by Dr. Suess, 1990. Poetry book. This is one of my favorite Dr. Suess books! It's a very empowering book about how you decide your own path. It rhymes so it will keep the kids engaged.

I would read this book to 1st and 2nd graders. This is a great book for kids because it is so colorful. Children would love this book and would want to pay attention to it. This is a great book for kids to read on their own also.

This is a poetry book. This book creates a lot of delight for children to read. The pictures use lots of colors to describe the story. It shows through pictures where he is traveling and through what it is.

Oh the Places You'll Go! is a poetry book by Dr. Seuss that shows all the places a person can go through their lives. It teaches about setting goals and nurtures a mindset of growth in children. Great book!

A good source to continue discussion about the book as well as some activities that expand on the lesson that the book imparts.

I first read this story when I received this story as a gift for 8th grade graduation. I still remember how this story made me feel for the first time and I think that's a beautiful thing. I hope that I'm able to give that same opportunity to some of my future students.

This picture book tells the story of a young person trying to find their place in the world. I remember how this book made me feel when I read it for the first time and I think that's a beautiful thing. This book reassures people that they are all on their own paths and to trust their decision making skills because you know what is best for you. I think this is a great story for older children, it's a little long for younger kids!

#ucflae3414F2019 a personal favorite and a classic, this 25 year old silly poetry book is about a boy and his crazy adventures to find himself. This non fictional book provides an important message at the end that can even make adults feel warm and fuzzy. The UDL standards that this book follows is 2.4, which is promote understanding across language. The EL standard is encourage self talk (positive thinking)

Just signed up for @LibrarianRyan ‘s #BBRC reading challenge, which looks so fun! A chance/excuse to explore books in different age categories- I‘m using it as preparation for impending auntie-hood, as I‘m totally out of touch with younger childrens‘ books.

Thanks for running this Ryan - it looks great!

This is my favorite part of the end of the school year, when parents as me to write in their child's Oh the Places You'll Go book.
I know it takes time, but I put the effort in to write a Bible verse on every page. I hope they all appreciate it when they get it in years to come.

I love this book! I got it as a kindergarten graduation present that was meant to be a reference when I graduated high school. I read it once I graduated and it choked me up because the message is so inspiring, more-so than young children understand their first time reading it.

This book describes life in simple and fun terms for children while being inspiring. As an adult looking at it, it‘s very heartwarming and gives a sense of nostalgia, while to children it provokes excitement. The rhyme scheme is very fun and uplifting.

This famous P book encourages students to be excited about the future and to know that they will do great things. It is a great book for RA in the classroom and also for students to do an AS on Dr. Suess outside of the classroom. ESOL strategies 14 and 17 can be used while reading to students. ESOL strategy 46 can be used for students to create crafts related to the book and the future places they will go. UDL 7.3 can be used to keep students

MNelson98 engaged during RA. This website includes some fun activities and crafts for students: https://www.weareteachers.com/oh-the-places-youll-go-activities/ #lae3414sp19 9mo

One day until Dr. Seuss‘s birthday, and in honor of this special event, Kindergarten celebrated today.

This will always remain one of my favorite Seuss books due to its positivity and uplifting message.

And even though, bad things happen, as Dr. Seuss mentions, things will be good again.

This has been my mood here lately. I feel like I‘ve been surrounded by lackluster people and people who love me for what I can do for them. So here‘s to reading more books this year, going on more trips this year, spending more time with Pat, spending more time with my best friend, and walking away from things that force me to be something other than myself. ❤️✨

1. I don't have a lot of travel experience unfortunately, so I tend to fall in love with almost everywhere I get to go. And I definitely fell in love with Scottsdale, Az when I went for the first time this past September.
2. I'm reading 2. Bath in England and Tuizelo in Portugal.
3. No idea.
4. Depends on my mood.
