I found myself researching names and topics throughout, to learn more about what was true and what was King. And while the ending left me feeling a little disappointed, it is the “right” ending.

The writing was clear and concise, with a storyline that was hard to turn off.

A bit predictable but entertaining, nonetheless. Independent girl falls for rich horse guy who turns out to be nicer than his reputation.

An interesting coming-of-age story of an orphan girl who is sent to college by an anonymous benefactor, whom she is required to write letters to as repayment. The entire book is a collection of those one-sided letters, revealing a girl-come-woman with a bit of a predictable ending. Reads quickly, and the format makes it easy to pick up and put down in between other tasks.

The story follows a young lady as she searches for her father and discovers a love greater than words. The story and scene-detailing are beautifully done and the entire book kept me captivated. For anyone remotely interested in birding as a hobby and especially competitive birding, this book is a must-read. Filled with a great balance of birding tips and wild stories, the entertainment value was spot-on while also inspiring others to go after their own version of a Big Year.

Reviewed for a friend, with intent of gifting it to a younger new birder. The info is written in a way that aims at new birders, but is not elementary in itself, meaning that children may not benefit from the information as much as adults. Some concepts will be hard to portray to a child, such as habitat diffs or how bird plumage changes with the seasons. But for what it is, the book is a wealth of information and I will surely buy a copy.

Very informative, if not dry at times. The audiobook lacks sound level control, the narrator often speaking low enough that I was unable to hear what was being said.

This unique book is full of witty cartoons, portraying different aspects and facts of the natural world in a humorous method. My only real critique is that the book is so small that the cartoons are next to impossible to read. I would‘ve paid extra for a large-format book where I didn‘t need a magnifying glass to read the small cartoon text.

This is a great compilation of essays written by birding‘s notable and noteworthy. While some essays were brief or vague, I enjoyed the ability to have short readings sessions, making the book easily accessible in quick moments of free time. In a crumbling world, society has found refuge in a digital world that blurs reality. The programmer leaves a treasure hunt that will leave the winner the richest, most powerful person ever, so obviously everyone wants to win. Long but well written, worlds are created beautifully, and the action/suspense balanced with the slower.

The author interviewed the Hobbit numerous times, and pieced together the story of how a man can disappear into the woods and live quite comfortably for decades without being discovered. This book comes across as a bit of a cross between Thoreau‘s Walden and a true crime novel. Definitely an interesting read.

But at other times, you are “read” what a picture says, instead of seeing the sketch, which loses some of the effect. Part fact, part fiction, and not entirely about Doc, the story maintains momentum but often loses focus as the narrator follows the path of an Earp family member, not coming back to Doc for a chapter or two. I liked the author‘s writing style, and the narration of the audio was great, but I am not sure I will re-read this one.

(Disclaimer: I listened to the audio) Revolution was an odd, but beautifully written, story about a young girl who travels to Paris with her father and in her attempts to revolt against parental guidance, finds friendship, love, and a connection with a girl of similar age from the French Revolution through a diary. Some parts were a bit fantastical, but overall, the book had a good rhythm and proper balance of detail.
