I didn‘t see the twist at the end coming, but it was a great end to the trilogy!

This final book felt both rushed and confusing. There‘s so much going on; honestly could‘ve been spread out a bit more to make another book. There‘s so many plot lines connecting here. This book brings the horrors of war more up to the front. More violence and death. More grief and trauma. Katniss is still a child, used by both governments. She is not a reliable pov, but that‘s what makes her so compelling
The Hunger Games is easily its own genre
The divergence of opinions between my teenage vs. adult self showed drastically while reading Mockingjay. While I had admiration for Gale eleven years ago, I found myself seeing toxic traits in his character and disliked him tremendously. I was also shocked how wrapped up my teenage self was in the love triangle aspect of the book, which overshadowed the powerful heroine I appreciated in later life. It is an epic conclusion to a powerful trilogy.
It‘s a good story but I didn‘t love it as much as the others. A lot of the time Katniss is being held back due to her celebrity status. This made her feel safer, so there was less tension. I still enjoyed it and the twist at the end.
The conclusion of this trilogy. I would say that the beginning of the story was a little bit repetitive and I was a little bored..but then...the action began..and...the end😢I really enjoyed this trilogy. So good. 4⭐️One of those that you keep thinking about the story and that ending after you finished it. Fantastic narrator. That‘s my Hunger Ganes tote bag😍

I'll tell them how I survive it. I'll tell them that on bad mornings, it feels impossible to take pleasure in anything because I'm afraid it could be taken away. That's when I make a list in my head of every act of goodness I've seen someone do. It's like a game. Repetitive. Even a little tedious after more than twenty years.
But there are much worse games to play.
That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.
So after, when he whispers, "You love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him, "Real."
Happy banned books week. How are you ‘celebrating‘ during spooky season? 😄📖📚#mockingjay #hungergames #catchingfire #balladofsongbirdsandsnakes #bannedbooks #bannedbooksweek #readbannedbooks
Book #3 in the series. People can be so evil to others. And without big rewards for that really. Lots of fighting in this one, emotional trauma too. I wish there was a 4th book, but the epilogue at the end was nice. In reading these there was so much I‘d forgotten from when they first came out & from the movies. I‘ll have to rewatch the movies now to see how different they are.
Liked this one more than Catching Fire, but not as much as Hunger Games. Can we talk about Finnick? How about Gale? Haymitch? Can we talk about e v e r y o n e?
Looking at reviews, the ending is pretty controversial. But I really enjoyed it. Probably helped that I read them all back to back, so there was no waiting to learn more.
Not me crying & doing squats when Buttercup came back to her. It's fine. I'm fine.

I think you could use this book, or any of the others in the trilogy to create different creative writing prompts. There are also a lot of different story elements you could discuss within these stories.
Published 2010. Following the events of Catching Fire, Katniss Everdeen finds herself in district thirteen. She finds that several of her fellow tributes have been taken to the Capitol and a rebellion has begun against the Capitol. Katniss revives her role as the Mockingjay and leads the rebellion to take down the Capitol.
Holy guacamole Batman- This was the perfect end to an enthralling trilogy. 🔥
I‘m going to reveal something here, I don‘t like this book, in fact I kind of hate it. Don‘t get me wrong I love this series with my whole heart but every time I reread this one I just feel sad. It was a well written book but the ending isn‘t good enough. Its not enough to make up for everything Suzanne Collins put us through in this book. All the pain and loss I went through while reading this, was for nothing. I like the book but STILL.
1) When someone, especially when that someone I‘m absolutely sure isn‘t a reader, interrupts my reading to ask what I‘m reading or what it‘s about. And especially when I know if I try to explain it they won‘t understand it or really care anyway. I generally want them to just go away lol…
2) I would buy the first book I saw in Strand, then all the others and then the building itself.

The final book in The Hunger Games series. I have to say I was not completely satisfied with it. After reading The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, my expectations were very high for Mockingjay. It just wasn‘t the strong ending to the series that I was anticipating. The first half of the book focused primarily on the politics of it all. Which wasn‘t a bad thing, but it lacked the action and intensity that was present in the other books.
Book #23
Finishing up the series and moving on to long awaited library holds
First reread in ~7 years and 1st read in English. THG was ahead of its time and it still holds up. It‘s interesting how my taste has changed, I like the ending of #Mockingjay a lot more and I understand a lot better why Peeta was the best choice for Katniss. I hope THG will soon get the renaissance it deserves.
#HungerGames
#unpopularopinion Disappointed. I understand the PTSD stuff, but Katniss is so uninspiring in this one -- where's the kickass heroine we all fell in love with in the first book? Also, why does almost every major event take place somewhere else, so Katniss can't even witness it, let alone take part?
And I'm not really happy with the ending. It might be realistic but I was expecting something more uplifting.
Each of the books in the series was certainly different than the others. I really enjoyed the series and am sad to see it come to close. I left my physical copy at home while on vacation, so I had to get the Kindle version to finish! Quick and exciting reads! Enjoyable.
In the Mockingjay, Katniss Everdeen was rescued from playing in the Quarter Quell. She then finds herself in District 13, that was supposedly destroyed. Katniss‘s home, District 12 was destroyed and turned into rubble. Peeta has been brainwashed while he was being kept in the Capital. Katniss is then put in the middle of a huge rebellion.
Finished this #audiobook today.
Got me to tear up at the end, epilogue more so.
As someone with mental illness- anxiety and depression, I identified with Katniss and her PTS. It‘s a tragic story, but in the end there‘s still hope. And as long as we have that, there‘s something worth living for.
4¾⭐ | NARRATION 😍 = Amazing | Narrated by 📣 TATIANA MASLANY
Guess what, I still love this series. I really enjoyed my reread on Audio with Tatiana Maslany narrating...she was phenomenal.
The real question is whether I liked the way it ended...and I have to say that I did...I totally did.
I‘m about 40% into this third of the trilogy. A riveting tale. Not sure how this will end. I‘m hoping for a positive outcome, but have a feeling it will get worse before anything is okay. I‘ve never seen the movies, so I‘m reading/listening blind. May the odds forever be in their favor!
We‘re fickle, stupid beings with poor memories and a great gift for self-destruction.
😭😭😭 Suzanne Collins really didn't feel the need to shy away from exploring trauma and PTSD, huh? #yalit #dystopianfiction
If you like books that are filled with betrayal, drama and intense action that will leave you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you!
Here‘s my review for another book I finished. I enjoyed this trilogy.
Amazing. The whole series. Every bit I loved. There is not anything off the top of my head I would hnage and the last line of this book is the thing I want tattooed on me.
Spoiler alert! Why do I love these books so much!?
Mockingjay was slow to start but as soon as the action begun, I absolutely flew through the last half of the book, the scene with the lizards actually scared me which doesn‘t normally happen for me when I read. I have since started reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes which also somehow takes a normally flat and boring character and makes them interesting.

Third in the hunger games trilogy. I liked this one just as much as the others, but I know some people didn‘t like the move from the games itself and into politics and rebellion!

Apparently I really like The Hanging Tree from the Mockingjay movie. This was my most listened to song this year on Spotify. If you haven‘t heard it, I do recommend it. I did a lot of rereading, and watching of Hunger Games this year. 🍁🏹🌳#YA #music #spotify #bookmusic
This book, was amazing! It was the perfect way to wrap up the Hunger Games series, and it had me in tears. This series is definitely worth a read!
While definitely well written, there‘s no way around it: this book is a major downer. It is an important and necessary ending and completely realistic for Panem but dang there is already a lot of pain that cannot go away and it keeps getting worse and worse right up until the bittersweet end. You definitely have to be in the right mood to pick up this book. Don‘t get me wrong, it‘s a good book with an important message, it just hurts!
