Annihilation | Jeff VanderMeer
Pickpick

Why have I waited so long to read this? Jeff VanderMeer is a true master and "Annihilation" is as moody, strange and scary as it is mesmerizing, hypnotic and utterly beautiful.

FlowerFairy I‘ve just started this one. Excited to read this series! 6y
LouieSylvester @FlowerFairy I am in awe... I went in with high expectations and usually that means I get to leave disappointed, but Annihilation is amazing and Authority is going down the same path. 6y

Paganinikontrakten | Lars Kepler

Despite being a fast-paced read - the short chapters help - it could be so much better if it didn't try so hard. And if it actually had any literary value.

Yesterday's book haul. I always say I'll buy less books, but how could I resist?

Very competent, entertaining and extremely readable book. Krysten Ritter has the writting chops of a seasoned thriller/mystery writer and knows how to spin an engrossing yarn.

Oh my, oh my, am I really writing an unfavourable review as my first ever Litsy post? Sadly, yes... I truly wanted to love this father-son effort, but I simply couldn't. The premise is okay and there's potential - the Kings are a talented family. But I could not feel empathy towards the characters and read this mammoth of a book in a permanent state of disconnect. Well, the good thing is there are plenty of King novels to make up for it!

RaimeyGallant It happens. :) And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you're interested. :)

LouieSylvester Thank you so much 😊 6y
ReadingOver50 Got this one for Christmas. I am hoping I like it 😄 6y
LouieSylvester @ReadingOver50 I really wanted to like it! Maybe if the characters were fewer and deeper, I would have liked it better. I loved Lila and her son Jared, but the book was too crowded for them to grow :-( 6y
