Amazing first read of a Ishiguro novel. Artificial intelligence, loneliness and love are just three topics the author explores in an easy readable book that will make you think about it long after you ve finished it.

This is a very intelligent first novel. Kiley Reid wrote this in a café in Arkansas and at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. It is about Emira, a 25 yo Afro-American woman who works part-time as a babysitter for the rich white Chamberlain family in Philadelphia. Emira will soon drop out of her parents' health insurance
"One day, when Emira would say good-bye to Briar, she'd also leave the joy of somewhere to be, the satisfaction of understanding the rules, the comfort of knowing what's coming next, and the privilege of finding a home for yourself."
Wesley is one of those Montana men whose mouths hardly move when they speak, for whom words are precious things they are loath to give up.
"It's a particular kind of pleasure, of intimacy, loving a book with someone."
Very sad, but beautiful novel. Stunning character descriptions and plotting. Short, but rich.
"You know how you finish a bag of chips and you hate yourself? You know you‘ve done nothing good for yourself. That‘s the same feeling, and you know it is, after some digital binge. You feel wasted and hollow and diminished."

A book that made me hungry. 12 short stories about a Jamaican-Canadian family in Toronto with a lot of humor and brilliant character depictions.
Based on a true background. Colson Whitehead tells the horrific story of two black boys in a correctional facility. With an unexpected turn.
A brilliant dystopia, partly inspired by the diary of Anne Frank.
I like that one by Keija Parssinen. Set in a steamy Texas town. Mercy Louis is growing up with her grandma and is a future basketball star. Then, things happen
