"The Tree in the Court of the Fountain is still withered and barren. When shall I see a sign that it will ever be otherwise? "

"Now at least the last march of the Ents may be worth a song. Aye,' he sighed, 'we may help the other peoples before we pass away. Still, I should have liked to see the songs come true about the Entwives...But there, my friends, songs like trees bear fruit only in their own time and their own way: and sometimes they are withered untimely.'
This book was everything I wanted out of a WWI middle eastern based story. So beautiful, so historical, and great if you love languages as most greetings and expressions are left in the original languages!
I'm excited to read more about Vietnam this summer!
This was so creative, fun, and engaging! My first Sanderson book, and I think I'll be back for more. My only hesitation is that the magic seems sort of over-explained in the story, which makes it easier to grasp for sure but maybe less....magical?
Got to see/hear Dr. Gottman speak and have our copy signed! Date 1 went great, here's to date 2!
"Some who have read the book, or at any rate have reviewed it, have found it boring, absurd, or contemptible; and I have no cause to complain, since I have similar opinions of their works, or of the kinds of writing that they evidently prefer."

"Then something Tookish woke up inside him, and he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine-trees and the waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking stick."
Bring the tissues with you, this made me cry and laugh! LeMoine's darkly comic memoir about pregnancy loss is a breath of fresh air. She is so real about all the surrounding feelings during a painful loss. Wish this was more widely available.
Just a few of my TBR list for the year. I noticed that I seem to already own more non-fiction than fiction..not what I expected
It's normal to read 300 pages of Harry Potter over the weekend and then struggle to read 10 pages of my textbook...right?
I liked the contemporary story from Patricia Harman, she included some mystery! but the intrigue for me was too watered down with a sentimental wrap up in the end...i would recommend The Midwife of Hope River more than this one
