Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) | J.K. Rowling
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the epic tale of Harry Potter, Harry and Lord Voldemort each prepare for their ultimate encounter. Voldemort takes control of the Ministry of Magic, installs Severus Snape as headmaster at Hogwarts, and sends his Death Eaters across the country to wreak havoc and find Harry. Meanwhile, Harry, Ron, and Hermione embark on a desperate quest the length and breadth of Britain, trying to locate and destroy Voldemorts four remaining Horcruxes, the magical objects in which he has hidden parts of his broken soul. They visit the Burrow, Grimmauld Place, the Ministry, Godrics Hollow, Malfoy Manor, Diagon AlleyBut every time they solve one mystery, three more evolveand not just about Voldemort, but about Dumbledore, and Harrys own past, and three mysterious objects called the Deathly Hallows. The Hallows are literally things out of a childrens tale, which, if real, promise to make their possessor the Master of Death; and they ensnare Harry with their tantalizing claim of invulnerability. It is only after a nigh-unbearable loss that he is brought back to his true purpose, and the trio returns to Hogwarts for the final breathtaking battle between the forces of good and evil. They fight the Death Eaters alongside members of the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledores Army, the Weasley clan, and the full array of Hogwarts teachers and students. Yet everything turns upon the moment the entire series has been building up to, the same meeting with which our story began: the moment when Harry and Voldemort face each other at last.

When I got this book, I read through it in about a day. Then immediately re-read the entire series. This book has a decidedly different tone than the rest of the series and is by far the most adult of the books. There are many sad parts, but also lots of action and crazy scenarios. We also learn a LOT more about the wizarding world outside of Hogwarts. A well-written end to the series.

1. I remember exactly where was when the tagged book broke my heart 😭

2. Science fiction/fantasy. I love when there‘s fantastic world building with new rules and new species.

3. Oh man. The hardest question to ask a bookworm. One of my favorites is Kushiel‘s Scion by Jacqueline Carey.

@MoonWitch94 Thanks for the tag!! 1. Deathly Hallows had me in tears of course. I ugly cried. 2. Fantasy is my favorite genre, anything is possible. is nothing like seeing an author build a beautiful world to get lost in. 3. The Gilded Ones series is a great example of world building, myth, and adventure.

The final book in the series. I waited years for these to come out because I read them when they were newly printed. I only ever read this one once. It‘s such a long book. I enjoyed it much more the 2nd time. Some of the surprises felt like surprises again. I realized that the series matured with the original readers when they were first published because the first book to the seventh is a sever jump in maturity. I look forward to the movies now.

This finale contains a lot of depth & plot twists, especially contrasted with the early part of the series. My friend is a literature teacher & she reminded me that Rowling was releasing these books to appeal to a maturing adolescent audience. It really is remarkable how she accomplished that feat!

Sparklemn I've never heard that said before but it totally makes sense. 5mo

Finally Finished. Just like Harry's Quest. My husband and I decided to reread all 7 books together in 2020. We had barely made it into the Prisoner of Azkaban and the read along was put on hold. I LOVED these books as a kid and as an adult I'll always love Harry Potter and wish that Hogwarts was a real place.

Such a fantastic ending to an amazing series!! I wanted more! I'm so glad I took the time to read them all. The movie really played up the kiss between Ron and Hermione so I was a little disappointed it was just a couple sentences! I also wanted the Neville/Nagini victory to have been bigger but other than that it was amazing!

FINALLY! It took me extra long to read this book, partly because I was busy, but mostly because I didn‘t want to finish this series. I wish I could explicitly say everything I loved about this book, but I don‘t have enough words. If you‘re an HP fan, you probably know anyways. Overall, the books brought a lot more plot and details into the series (obviously). This book was truly a great read and I‘m already planning a reread.

What better time than during #MiddleGradeMarch to FINALLY read the last HP book! I enjoyed it as much as the last few, though it wasn‘t my favourite of the bunch. I think 3 is still my favourite. Probably won‘t be rereading this again until I have children, but I‘m happy I finally know the whole story. Maybe I should finally check out the movies? I‘ve still only seen the first 3 🙈

Anyone ever think Voldemort would have had a better chance at winning, had he used his original wand against Harry at end rather than the elder wand? I think it could be possible since he wasn‘t it‘s true master (he wasn‘t aware of this), and Harry was, the wand naturally wouldn‘t kill Harry. Also since Harry‘s original wand was destroyed, he wouldn‘t have had to worry about their wands refusing to finish each other off

BookwormAHN I think that's a good point. 10mo
BookishGirl06 @BookwormAHN thanks. I‘m not sure if Voldemort still would have lost but at least he‘d have a wand that was truly loyal to him 10mo

It‘s definitely not my favourite of the series - there‘s a huge stretch of nothing going on and I‘ve always thought the ending was a little vague and poorly explained - but it does wrap things up nicely and I still enjoyed it.

There are so many moments when the war would‘ve been lost without the help of friends. Dobby, Aberforth, Luna, Ron, Hermione, Lupin, Molly, Bill & Fleur, Neville, and countless others all step up to fight. I loved this series so much and every time I reread it I‘m reminded of the importance of true friendship and having a support system of people who love you. Here‘s to Harry Potter and finding a family when you feel lost and alone.

I'm sure this is a VERY unpopular opinion, but this wasn't my favorite. It took me a long time to get through it because I was not all that interested. However, as soon as they got to Hogwarts, I also arrived and flew through the rest of the book.

Back in June I decided to read the Harry Potter series and this week I finished the last book. This is my first time reading the series and I enjoyed it way more than I imagined.
The Deathly Hallows really surprised me and this must be my favorite one. I especially loved how details from the previous books were used in this one.

Rowling has really created a truly magical world and I‘m so glad that I decided to read these books!

6/6📚

SarahBookInterrupted I haven‘t read them either and keep thinking I really should. Everyone I know that has loves them. 14mo
SimoneFroelich @SarahBookInterrupted I can only recommend reading them! I love the movies too but everything just makes so much more sense in the books. And even though it might take some time to get trough all the books they‘re never boring and you keep stumbling upon details you weren‘t introduced to in the movies ☺️ 14mo
SarahBookInterrupted I‘m definitely going too…I‘ve only watched the first movie because I‘ve always meant to read the books and I‘m glad to know it will make the movies even more enjoyable. 14mo

Book #7. What a journey! In this final book of the series, Harry & Voldemort have a stronger connection than ever before…and the fight everyone has been waiting for is bound to happen. But it isn‘t a straight route thus journey takes and a lot of life‘s lessons are learned along the way. Be brave, protect & forgive those who need it, and try not to hurt anyone along the way. And it‘s ok to give second chances.

We did it! Seven books, a chapter a day. Thanks for going on this journey with me!

1. I recently listened to Witch, Please and they pointed out that Snape and Lily's story is a lot like Helena Ravenclaw and the Bloody Baron's. Blew my mind! What do y'all think?
2. Did you read the train station scene with Dumbledore as literal or metaphorical?
3. Is the Elder Wand actually important in the end? Or is it just their belief?

#potteraday

Sargar114 1. I was behind on it, but I just had read the chapter of Snape‘s pensieve and this comparison is spot on! I had forgotten why I liked Snape so much as he is so despicable through most of the series, that one chapter singlehandedly turned it around again. 1y
Sargar114 2. If you ask Dumbledore, it‘s both!!! I was wondering as I was reading it if it had something to do with him having the resurrection stone. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 1y
Sargar114 3. It seemed like the Elder Wand was actually powerful, but I wonder if it‘s power was greater for Harry because he possessed the other two Hallows when no one else had…I mean he did survive a killing curse for a second time with all 3 1y
GHABI4ROSES I just have this book left! Planning for November. So glad to be on the list! 1y
