This book is so creative and unique. I enjoyed reading this story that spans lifetimes. It also inspired me to learn more about The Dust Bowl.

Starfish | Akemi Dawn Bowman

Starfish is stunning, both in composition and content. It is emotional, jarring, and so beautiful. At times, I found it difficult to read because it stirred my heart in so many unexpected ways. The blend of pain and beauty woven throughout is exquisite. This story is about pain, family, fear, racism, abuse, anxiety and so much more;what I love best is that it is a story that exposes the deepest longing of a human heart, to love and to be loved.

FURTHERMORE is one of my favorite books. I think Tahereh Mafi's middle grade books are especially wonderful. WHICHWOOD is a perfect companion to FURTHERMORE. The writing is so beautiful and I genuinely hope she writes MANY more books about this magical world.

The First Rule of Punk | Celia C. Perez

The first rule about reading the book The First Rule of Punk is that you will LOVE it. This story has everything: emotion, wit, culture, intelligence, heart and a fantastic soundtrack (make a playlist might be rule 2). I can't wait to see the final artwork in the finished copy because I love Malú's zine so much. I learned a lot from reading this while still being reminded of my own childhood experiences.
