New week, new book! I'm on a psychological thriller roll. This time we're dealing with criminal intent versus the effects of trauma. Has anyone read this yet? What did you think?

This is an excellent psychological thriller!! Twists and turns and great writing. While it wasn't very hard to figure out with the not so subtle clues; the information was still revealed in a suspenseful, enjoyable manner. Would definitely recommend for your quarantine reading list!

I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else's muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
End of fucking story.

“If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken. If you play outside alone, soon you won't be going home. If your window's left unlatched, you'll hear him tapping at the glass. If you're lonely, sad, and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you.”

Soon it reached that point of miraculous equilibrium where it felt at once as if it had been going on forever and as if it would never end.

"the Era of Hopeful Monsters"

Somethingwitty I wanted to like this book, but I felt like I was fighting with it throughout the entire plot. Back and forth. And back and forth. I enjoyed the characters, although they were fairly simple creatures. The blatant foreshadowing was interesting. If you remove the suspense, you can delve much deeper into the other ideas surrounding the event. There are certainly elements of writing that I'll take with me from this novel. 8y
