Daisy Jones & The Six
Daisy Jones & The Six | Taylor Jenkins Reid
A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of a world-famous 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer--and the secret reasons behind their dramatic break up. Daisy Jones is a beautiful, broken girl growing up in L.A. with rich parents who barely know she exists. . . . But when she sings in a crowded, smoky club, you can hear a pin drop. All she wants is to write her own songs, but the record studio has its own ideas. It's the early 1970s and free love and drugs are everywhere, and Daisy wants to experience it all. Billy Dunne and his brother have a band called The Six that won't be playing weddings for long. They are ambitious, hard-rocking, hard-partying. When they land a record deal, Billy's girlfriend follows them to the west coast and life begins. But she finds out she's pregnant on the eve of their first tour, and the pressure of fatherhood and incipient fame make Billy go a little crazy on the road. Daisy and Billy's paths cross when a manager realizes that the key to skyrocketing success is to put them together. But oil and water don't even begin to describe how they mix. . . . And what happens next will become the stuff of legend. Written in the style of an "as-told-to" rock autobiography, Daisy Jones & The Six is an unforgettable ride.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really loved this. Retrospective of a fictional 70s rock band told as snippets of interviews with each of the characters. Really loved all of the characters and the story. I enjoyed The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and liked Malibu Rising even more, but I think this is my favorite of Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s books. Highly recommend, especially the full cast audiobook!

Loved the story of this fictional rock'n'roll band from the 70s. It kept me hooked from the first to the last page.

I'm impatiently waiting for the TV series to be able to also hear the music!

This is a fictional book about a band in the 1970s. The writing is so great and the details so rich, I thought this was about a real band at first-lol. This book is written in interview style, which I will admit took me a bit to adjust to and really get in to. That being said - this book is amazing. You find yourself really loving all the characters , despite their flaws. Great read!

Daisy Jones is a hot ass mess. I hate you Billy. Camilla was too good for everyone. I love Karen. A lot. Justice for Graham. This book develops very quickly and all of the characters feel very vivid and alive and unique. I wish this band existed so I could listen to their songs. I loved the format of the book and all the different perspectives from the band members. Taylor is queen of an ending plot twist to make it all tie beautifully together.

This book blew me away, I was hesitant to read it because of the hype, but I'm so glad I did because it's a masterpiece! The characters were so well developed, the emotion in this book is unique and I absolutely loved the plot, the pacing was fast and the twists were unexpected. It deals with sensitive issues and I found it inspiring at times. The ending was bittersweet and I found myself not wanting it to end. I fricking loved this book so much!

Book #48: This was so good!! I loved that it was told as an oral history. TJR has such a cool and real way of writing characters. They always feel so real, like I could google Daisy Jones and her whole history would come up. I cannot wait to see this as a TV show - we‘ll get to hear the songs! I‘m really wondering how they‘ll do it, if it‘ll be like a rock documentary format with flashbacks or what.

fredthemoose I just reserved this at the library. Can‘t wait! 3mo
nichollinlove I really hope it is set up like rock documentary. The audio was amazing because it really felt like listening to a VH1 Special. I was looking up the band and characters to make sure I didn't somehow over look this piece of history 😆 3mo

This book is truly a masterpiece. It had me gripped from the beginning, so multifaceted and unlike any other books I've ever read especially due to the oral history storytelling of Daisy Jones. it's full of timeless quotes, glamourous scandals, and heart-breaking loss & I also was left so touched by the exploration of addiction & how Camila handled the situation. Camila is probably one of my favorite fictional characters now. WOW. Just, WOW.🍻

peanutnine I LOVED Camila! She was definitely my favorite. Such a strong character 3mo

This compulsively readable novel tells the story of 70s band The Six and how they came to record an album with Daisy Jones. The interview format and shifting perspectives made for a fast-paced and gripping read, as tension within the group builds and threatens to blow. Ego, addiction, attraction and fame come into play, but the music and everything that goes into its creation remains the heart of the band and the book. My daughter loved it too!

There is nothing in the book that I didn‘t really like, but I am the type of reader that would prefer reading a true story about a band as opposed to a fictional one. Who wouldn‘t love reading behind-the-scenes details about their favorite band? But, the fact that Daisy Jones & The Six is fictional, really took away the joy the story would have had if it were nonfiction.

If you enjoy Historical Fiction, you would probably like this book!

Y'all I FINALLY read Daisy Jones!
I recently read Opal & Nev & thought it was just okay. So when I heard it compared to DJ, I groaned internally.
These books are not even in the same ballpark! I absolutely loved this one! Daisy's reckless, broken, hurt-out-loud style really resonated with me & I read it in one sitting. I thought it was absolutely captivating & loved the characters. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm just sad I can't listen to the songs in real life. ❤️

While I enjoyed"Daisy Jones and the Six" I don't find it deserving of the hype surrounding it. Yes, it was interesting enough to keep me flipping the pages. However, I wish I could have felt a better connection to the characters. I could not have cared less about Billy and Daisy's story. Honestly, I found Graham and Karen a lot more interesting. Yeah, I'll give it a 3.5 /5.

I wouldn‘t have come up with something like that. Which is what we all want from art, isn‘t it? When someone pins down something that feels like it lives inside us? Takes a piece of your heart out and shows it to you? It‘s like they are introducing you to a part of yourself.

Bk1 of June is done! Wow, I can‘t believe this has sat on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom for 3yrs. I loved it! You can just see Fleetwood Mac slowly imploding like this as they were making Rumours in the 70s. Daisy reminded me of a mashup of Stevie Nicks & Pamela Des Barres, the famous groupie from GTO.
