Day 1 is The Thirteen and a Half Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers.
Felt a little like Arthur taking on the Black Knight while reading this book. I've only got about 100 pages left now - though I don't think I'll be continuing the series!
Escaping to the glamour of Old Hollywood on my lunch break.
Just read Shattered Empire as my single sitting book for #ReadHarder! 2 challenges down!
Today I'll be finishing Fallow, reviewing a few books, and watching Jurassic Park.
My newest Pop, Bombshells Batwoman, has found herself in very good company! Tidying and organising the study today before I go out and drink too much tonight 🍻
My TBR shelf! #shelfie
An average caramel slice made up for by an excellent book 👌
Had to tag Brendan James Murray's other book, as Venom isn't on Litsy yet!
Break time!
#welcometothewarroom
Probably shouldn't have started this before bed - it's already too hard to put down.
My little brother bought me this for my birthday! Since he's the one that brought Skulduggery Pleasant into my life, I'm more than willing to take a chance on this and see what all the fuss is about!
Nestled amongst my haul from EB Expo is a copy of Gotham City Sirens: Book One. I predict a summer of comic books and air conditioning!
I'm on vacation! Just having a few days on the coast in a cute beach front apartment 🌴☀
Wally is having a nap before we head back to Movie World for Fright Night so I'm getting stuck into this bad boy 👌
I need more Heloise Chancey in my life.
And here's the other! Considering making my own zines so I thought I'd do a bit of research! #bookmail
One of the two books that arrived today! #bookmail
Polishing off some book reviews today, before a few friends come round to hang out with me and the dog.
Being Here is DIVINE 👌😍
Teaming my new book with a delicious sundae!
I've never read non-fiction like this. If it wasn't for the footnotes, it'd feel like a dreamy piece of fiction. Absolutely in love!
Snuggled up in bed while Wally watches the Hungary Grand Prix. Chester's on the bed, but don't tell Wally 😁 I'm normally pretty into F1 but I'm so tired from work that all that driving around was sending me to sleep!
What an opening 😍
Super excited about today's bookmail! Can't believe I finally got my grubby hands on this book 😁
Chester is at the vets most of today and Wally is getting ready for work so I'm wrapping myself up in my duvet and hiding from the cold, with one of the books I'll be reviewing for the AU Review to keep me company.
Fantastic #bookmail today!
Being Here by Marie Darrieussecq, The Pacific Room by Michael Fitzgerald, and She Be Damned by M. J. Tjia.
Also picked up a new Pendo, as my old Samsung tablet is on the way out and I need an easy way to read all my non-Kindle digital books!
Burger time! One of my friends is minding Chester so I don't have to rush home between shifts to check on him. So nice to relax with delicious food and a book!
Between the ARCs I've covered for The AU Review, using my Kindle because it's easier on bus journeys, working four double shifts, and all this drama with the doggo, I've not really had much time to sit down and read (a physical) book.
Finally getting stuck into the newest Skulduggery Pleasant while the boyfriend watches Top Gear downstairs with the dog. They'll be up for bed soon so I better get a few chapters done sharpish!
On Saturday night, our poor boy got spooked during a storm, jumped the fence at my boyfriend's mum's house, and picked a fight with a moving vehicle.
He's doing well, just very subdued (a side effect of the painkillers!), and we're confident he'll be back to his old self in no time.
Once today is over, I've got three days off work to spend with him while he recuperates - planning lots of puppy cuddles and reading for the pair of us!
Wally's home with the furbaby so I've stopped at the bar for a chardy and a few pages of The Girl From Rawblood.
Catching up with my @SerialReader issues on the way to the RSPCA. I volunteer there weekly as a creative writer, playing with puppies and writing their adoption profiles.
"For fans of pop music, intersectional feminism, and that bit in Ghostbusters when Kate McKinnon whales on a bunch of ghosts (which should be everyone, really), No Way! Okay, Fine reads like a conversation with that friend that just GETS it."
My review of Brodie Lancaster's brilliant No Way! Okay, Fine is up now on The AU Review - check it out at bit.ly/NW-OF
This book is pretty much exactly what I need right now.
"And once you've seen the world, you can't stay home."
Green tea, a good book, and a sneaky selfie 👌
"... uniquely Spargo-Ryan, filled with what one hopes will become her signature touches – vibrant characters, beautifully crafted prose, and imagery so strong you want to reach out and touch it."
My full review of The Gulf is up now on The AU Review - check it out at bit.ly/Gulf-review
