I enjoyed Tom Hanks performance, and some of the stories were incredibly thought provoking. The only real complaint I have is that some of the stories just plain ended unsatisfactorily. There was a nice build up, new perspectives offered, then **poof** onto the next story. I still enjoyed it though. Good for those who love short stories.

This book was awesome. I had heart palpitations by the end of it in anticipation of what would happen. There is definitely a formula to Crichton‘s writing style; particularly dealing with the hubris of eccentric rich men with a passion that pushes the envelope, and ultimately bites them in the ass. The formula that Crichton has created works brilliantly here. A fantastic blend of science, history & philosophy.

It was a true tale of the human spirit and the ability to grow and develop, even in the most adverse conditions. I felt like I related to this book on a very personal level, and would not recommend it for somebody who doesn't appreciated subtlety or who has never experienced a traumatic event such as loss or poverty. This book is so much different from the movie in the best ways. There is a strong feeling of reality in the book that isn't conveyed through the film version. Although, the movie is still great and visually interesting. They almost aren't even the same story to me. I find myself unable to put it down. I'm on a mission and am almost complete!!
