Wonderfully interesting stories but the writing style wasn‘t great. It was quite predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

Catching up on some reviews the next few days. Although this has some content involving sexual abuse that was a little graphic, the read was very interesting. The writing style was bland but the topic was great! I enjoyed the read.

I haven‘t posted in here in a while and honestly have not been reading much. My 4 month old keeps me busy and I don‘t have much time for much else (not complaining haha). But I do plan on doing the #dewey #readathon starting tomorrow. I‘m listening to this audiobook at work today and so far it‘s pretty good. What should I read for the Readathon?

Wayne is amazingly hilarious! This book is beautifully written and such a great read. I may even like this story better than the first three in the series!

Although I really enjoyed the plot and the world that was built in this novel, the beginning of the novel had a lot of information dumps and much of this information was not needed to thoroughly enjoy the novel. Additionally, I do not normally read any books with content that is not PG (cussing, sexual references etc) and this novel had a lot of that. I feel this content did not add anything to the already amazing novel. #travelingbook

alisiakae I just wanted to check in to see if the #dystopiantravellingbook was sent on to @TrishB for Jan? I‘m sorry it was just so-so for you, do you plan on seeing the movie when it comes out? 6y
blog_gal I sent out the book to @TrishB. I hope she receives it soon :) I do plan on seeing the movie, but may wait until it comes out on DVD. 6y
alisiakae Ok perfect! My Nov and Dec were quite chaotic with my mom‘s cancer diagnosis and month-long stay at our home for surgery and recuperation, so I lost track of the book for a few weeks. 😊 Thanks for sending it on so promptly! 6y

The storyline and world building of this novel are excellent. I just wish the cussing and inappropriate topics were removed and this book would definitely be one of my favorites. I‘m reading this as part of Litsy #travelingbook

alisiakae What did you consider inappropriate? It definitely has some strong language. That doesn‘t bother me, but I know it‘s not everyone‘s cup of tea! 6y
blog_gal @4thhouseontheleft there were some sexual references (sex dolls, masturbation, ect.) I guess I‘m just more of a conservative reader than most lol 6y

I‘m not really enjoying this book so far. The premise of the book is really interesting but the writing style is a little boring. I‘m hoping it picks up but I‘m not sure I‘m going to enjoy this one. :/ #travelingbook

This series is worth the read. It is fast-paced and fun, but it is predictable and is not unique within the dystopian genre.

I'm in between listing this as "pick" and "so-so". I love the premise of the book and I enjoyed the characters, but the pacing was slow and the plot was predictable. I am still excited to start reading the second in the series soon and I recommend this to fans of dystopian YA.

First off, I love when a book is even more beautiful without the dusk jacket. This is my favorite shade of purple! Although slow at first, this book really picked up and became quite interesting. Barnes has a way of weaving intricate plots into her stories. This book wasn't amazing, but it was good and I would recommend it to fans of YA suspense.

Just finished this great Ted Dekker book. I do not read a lot of Nonfiction Christian books as I find that they repeat a lot of information over and over again. Although Dekker did this some, the book had a wonderful message and was really inspiring. Dekker emphasizes that we should keep our eyes on our inheritance (Heaven) and not lose hope for the wonderful things that are to come in Heaven. I will have a more in depth review on my blog soon!

Continuing reading via audiobook this morning. This book is so much more than inspiring. It is exactly what I need in this moment: hope, the source of happiness, and a foretaste of heaven divine.

I found a signed copy of this book at my local used book store. I didn't realize it was signed until I got home!

Adam_Z Nice! That's a keeper for sure. Well, the book was a keeper *before* Mr. Dekker signed it, but all the more now. Enjoy the blessings! 😁 7y
Adam_Z PS - I'm reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn, and I think in some ways it's a great follow-up to Dekker's Slumber -- just in case you need any further help in awakening your passion for heaven. 7y
blog_gal @Adam_Z I will definitely check that out. He did the forward to this book as well :) 7y

Started this book tonight. My husband raves about it, so I cannot wait to read it. This quote reminds me of a church of the highlands sermon. In the sermon, it was talking about Paul and how they were telling him that if he preached about Jesus they would behead him. Paul's paraphrased response is "would you really? That'd be great" because what awaits us in heaven is greater than anything we have here on earth!
