Oh, Litsy, I have missed you! Life has gotten too crazy, but I am back!
And I could not have picked a more perfect book to come back with. I'm incredibly lucky to have gotten an ARC of Tessa and Weston: The Best Christmas Ever.
Here's my review on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4266630146?book_show_action=false&from_rev...

“In the midst of the storm, it was so easy to forget that we were all still living, breathing souls. That we had emotions. That we weren‘t immune to hurt and manipulation and heartache. That, beneath our armor, we were all bleeding in one way or another. That we had wounds and desires and longings.”

I have to share a funny story with you all.
So I got on Litsy one morning and the first post I saw was about Darcy Coates‘ books. I didn‘t look very hard at the post. I just glanced.
Later that day I went to Barnes & Noble to read my current book. I wasn‘t looking for a specific book. I literally went there to find a comfy chair and read. I glanced over at the shelves and who‘s books did I see? Darcy Coates.
So of course I bought one. 😂

I get to help with a production of Daddy Long Legs, the musical, next month. This musical is an adaptation of the novel by Jean Webster. Of course, I love to read the book before a show.
I found it on Audible and guess who narrates it? Megan McGinnis, who originated the role of Jerusha in the Off-Broadway production!

My love of Sherlock Holmes has been restored! Thank you, Brittany Cavallaro!
This was a fun adaptation to read. I loved Jamie Watson because he was so relatable, and I respected Charlotte Holmes because she‘s a fighter.
The mystery was clever and intriguing. I just hope we focus on the mysteries and not the possible romance between Holmes and Watson. That‘s just me though. 😬

Me: One book at a time, Susan. You‘ll probably drive yourself crazy trying to read more than one book at once.
Also me: LET‘S DO IT. ALL THE BOOKS.

P.S. This an ARC edition. Thank you to the publisher and my dear friend, Abbie, for letting me read this early! I‘m so excited!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read this book a while back. It‘s also by a dear, dear friend of mine. I‘m so proud of her hard work on this series.
So maybe I‘m a bit biased but I absolutely LOVED the first installment of The Blood Race. There are pieces of it that remind me of Harry Potter, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Percy Jackson. However, it‘s still original in its own way.
Please check this series out! I believe it‘s worth it!

Sharp Objects: A Novel | Gillian Flynn
post image

A while back I watched the limited HBO series of Sharp Objects and immediately needed to read the book.
Does that take the mystery out of the book? Maybe. But I‘ve been hooked since I started reading this novel. There‘s definitely some triggers in here though, but I still recommend it.

Confession: I actually finished this a while back, but got so busy I forgot to update Litsy. 😬
I honestly enjoyed the 2nd installment of The Magicians trilogy. The only reason I gave this 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 was because there was just something about the first novel I enjoyed more.

The Prestige | Christopher Priest

Mehso-so

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m rather disappointed in The Prestige, considering I love the movie. This may be the first time I prefer the movie over the book.
This book is difficult to read, hence why I took to Audible. Yet I still found myself zoning out numerous times.
It didn‘t get sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat interesting until the last 3 chapters. Then it suddenly ended. I would‘ve liked a bit more explanation.

Now I‘m off to read more King!

Cinfhen I just buddy read this book with @Kalalalatja & @CarolynM check out our reviews...only one of us felt the same way you did 😉although this book is definitely a Litsy favorite 6y
bluetheatregirl @Cinfhen I actually agree with your review a bit. It‘s definitely more of a time travel/love story. Guess I‘m a bit of sucker for those, though I don‘t like to admit that. 😝 It did drag a bit after Jake came back to 2011. There were just more pros than cons to me. 6y
Cinfhen And I felt more cons than pros(🙄) but I absolutely was amazed by King‘s attention to detail and the way he crafted such an elaborate story. Although I think for now I‘m stepping away from King. 6y
bluetheatregirl @Cinfhen Yes! King‘s attention to detail is amazing!! Hey, no shame in that! I can relate to that. ☺️ 6y
Erinsuereads This is the first one I read too! I loved it so much 6y
