This psychological thriller is the first book in a while that has gripped me from the beginning and had me totally engrossed until the last word. It was definitely hard to read at times but I HAD to know what was happening. It‘s chilling and layered-but I will say if you are easily affected by family dysfunction or loss this isn‘t one you‘ll want to read. I devoured it.

This sympathizes pedophilia. Period. She‘s 13 and he‘s a grown man. Period. This is exactly what is wrong with the world we live in. It has a 4.06 star rating on goodreads with almost 93,000 ratings. Let that sink in. Yeah, it‘s fiction, but it‘s still sympathizing pedophilia and I‘m tired of being quiet about it. “But the writing is beautiful.” I don‘t care. “But he‘s a good guy.” I don‘t CARE. Stop sexualizing children. It‘s not normal!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was very good and had I not just finished The Nightingale, which was phenomenal, I probably would have enjoyed it more. To be honest I felt like the writing didn‘t do the story justice. 😬

Why did I wait so long to read this book?! It was soooooo good. 😭 This was the first WWll perspective I‘ve read about what women went through in a German Occupied France during the war and it blew me away. I lost count of how many times I cried or became infuriated by the oppression, but it‘s going on the shelf with my favorites and I‘m buying all things Kristin Hannah.

LapReader Where did you get that gorgeous stamp? 4y
LapReader Thanks. I just ordered a similarly gorgeous one. 4y
Emma_PK I've just finished this book and I cried solid for the last 30 pages. My kids were laughing at me and I had to clean ofd my makeup! Fad read. X 4y

This book was beautiful. 😭 Native American heritage has always captivated me and this story shines light on the forgotten people of our land and brings it back to life during a families journey on The Oregon Trail. So good and a new favorite.

I‘m conflicted. It was fast paced and it had me reading quickly to the end-I loved the eerie setting on the remote island, but I never felt like I connected with the story or any of the characters. They were all awful to be honest. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I could read Calla and Jonah‘s story forever and I loved all of the new characters we were introduced to! Curmudgeon Roy-I just wanted to hug him. Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this series!

michellelav What series is this? Looks like something I could get into 😊 5y
booknerdlawren @michellelav The Simple Wild is the first book! It‘s one of my favorite reads so far this year :) 5y

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This was my first Jennifer Armentrout book and it will not be my last. The whole book was good but the last 250ish pages-goodness gracious-they were amazing! Maas fans you‘re gonna wanna read this one. Trust me.

Genstl3 It was my first read of Jennifer‘s books as well, I was not disappointed. The only disappointing part is not knowing when the second book comes out 😂 5y

The Simple Wild has me dreaming of Alaska and wishing I could go to the bookstore to get the second one. I haven‘t taken my head out of this book ALL day. It‘s so, so good! Our amazing, new bed couldn‘t have come at a perfect time. Some people are being productive during coronatine-not I. My bed is too comfortable and books take me places I can‘t go.

My heart. That was so hard to finish but so, SO relevant. I can‘t even get out of my chair or know where to begin-but it begins with us. Everyone needs to read this book. “Start here, please, in communion with one another despite our differences, recognizing that without start there is no end.”

Phew. Emotional, powerful. Adunni‘s story of triumph will stay with me forever. “My Mama say education will give me a voice. But I want more than just a voice. I want a louding voice.” This one is up there with This Tender Land, and y‘all know how much love I have for that book. #thegirlwiththeloudingvoice

marleed I loved this book! 5y

I am so glad I was home alone to finish this book because y‘all, I cried, and cried, then laughed a lot and cried some more. I‘m now on the hunt for a cute, old curmudgeon to adopt and love and laugh at when he says completely inappropriate things. I loved this book so much.

How many times have you said, “If only these walls could talk.” The Dutch House delivered. I could read stories of the people that lived in this house and life of the Conroy‘s-who lived there during this story like volumes of an encyclopedia. The characters were so in depth and the unbreakable bond of a brother and sister gave me all the feels. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ *and for my audiobook fans, Tom Hanks is the narrator. 😉

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ All the stars. Can you imagine being the sole survivor in a plane crash, losing your whole family and being under the microscope of the entire nation while trying to find joy in this new life ALL at the age of 12? This story broke my heart and pieced it back together again. So, so good. I‘m gonna be having my first book hangover of 2020 after this beautiful book.

My love for Colleen Hoover runs deep. I read 6 of her books in 2019 and they were all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. So, I‘m gonna make my way through all of her books in 2020, starting now. I started this yesterday and I‘m already almost done with it so I hope Matt doesn‘t mind being a single parent today.

britt_brooke Such a pretty room! I recently discovered my love for Hoover, too. 💚 5y

I found myself favoring the story so much more from Red‘s point of view-I probably would have liked it more if it didn‘t take me 2 weeks to finish it. November was a super slow reading month for me!

See, this is why I don‘t answer the door. Stranger Danger. I‘m not home and no you can‘t come in. This book was all kinds of weird and I loved it! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, wrong, it took another turn. The Family Upstairs gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 from me!

Oh. My. Gosh. This was one of my October picks from Book of the Month but I‘m just now getting around to reading it and it is cracking. me. up. My kids came upstairs and looked at me like I was a weirdo (maybe I am) because they could hear me laughing. The way the main character describes the “fire kids” is so funny. Her wit reminds me a lot of myself, maybe that‘s why I find her so hilarious. 😂👏🏻

October wrap up! #spookystack complete. I had to throw in Things You Save in a Fire for a mental hug. All the thrillers/suspense was leaving me paranoid, especially The Whisper Man-coming out on top this month! It was my favorite! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Whisper Man, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 The Broken Girls and One of Us is Lying, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And Then There None and Things You Save in a Fire, ⭐️⭐️⭐️ In a Dark, Dark Wood, Stalking Jack The Ripper and The Last Mrs. Parrish.

One of Us is Lying gets a 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 from me! The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars. It kept me turning pages and I loved the 4 main characters and their developing relationships! I can‘t wait to read the sequel that comes out in January.
