Currently reading King of scars by Leigh Bardugo.
I have read all her books including the latest Hellbent and Ninth House. Nikolai‘s duology were the only ones not read yet. And since Shadow and Bone season 2 releases 16th March, i thought I might as well update myself on Nikolai‘s story.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Goosebumps All the way… this book is everything. It‘s heart wrenchingly romantic. An eternal love story of three people. At times it felt unbelievably impossible to have such a connection in a triangle love story but Cassandra Claire has a way with her words.. she is a magician when it comes to spinning beautiful phrases. Cont. 👇

BGam It‘s only because of the way she wrote that helped me go through the entire book without ever dreading for a moment to have to start taking a side with one relationship in particular. In this case, I favoured both Tessa and Will and Tessa and James. I loved how sensitively the entire love triangle was handled without hurting any party in particular. Everyone got to taste their ups and downs. It was perfectly balanced. It was like Cassandra Claire herself was in love with both Will and James. I think the Parabatai connection between James and Will was the main reason why Tessa was equally in love with both of them. But somehow, somewhere I felt Tessa loved James out of sympathy but I‘d like to avoid thinking that now as things didn‘t end up too bad for either of them. It‘s a HEA ending!!

An emotional roller coaster. I was surprised to see that this book was quite dark although a YA, not only the way the 19th century London was portrayed but also the actions, reactions and the emotions that were conveyed was very intense. It was totally immersive. The whole genre bent towards dark, gothic romance fantasy. I really enjoyed it.

The deep love between Will and James is incredible. How could she create so much love between them without making them look like homosexual partners? How she even made possible for Will and James to have such wonderful fulfilling lives with Tessa was absolutely soul satisfying.

The epilogue just took my breath away. It was so satisfying to know how it all ended and began again for Tessa, Will and James. Fantastic story telling.

WILL HERRONDALE IS THE ULTIMATE ULPHA MALE FANTASY HERO. Wish I had discovered him earlier. 😊

⭐⭐⭐ lot of stuff happens in this. Alina and Mal's relationship is tested. Alina has to make some hard choices. She has yet to learn a lot about her powers and yet to grow as a confident and a mature leader. Politics vs religion is a strong theme.
Many plots were predictable but m eager to know the ending in the third book. A pleasant read.

Shadow and Bone Trilogy # 1

⭐⭐⭐.5

Only because of Mal (from the show) I started reading this. It's a nice story. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad either. Six of crows had better plot twists and more mature in writing. Grisha trilogy is for teens and adults who like simple fantasy stories.

I wanted to give it a 4 star but decided not to intellectualise the story too much. Suffice to say that the book kept me hooked till the end and the conclusion although a bit too extreme was alright. It didn‘t leave me heartbroken.. all‘s well that ends well! One tiny issue, I think thunderhead in fact used the world and it‘s people as its sandbox to play around with! It‘s a coloniser and eventually, mortality had the last laugh on earth.

5 ⭐️ Oh my! This was extraordinarily brilliant. Don‘t have enough superlatives to describe this book...

✅ fast paced read
✅ mind blowing plot twists
✅ thought inducing phrases by the thunderhead
✅ explosive ending literally & figuratively
✅ scalp trickling scenes & dialogues
✅ futuristic science fantasy fiction

(Cont. 👇)

BGam I really enjoyed the thoughts given out by the thunderhead. They really made me think about life and death in general. The story progression was quick. It couldn‘t be put down. In this book, we get to know more about their world in general, the historical background of seats of power of the scythes, their literature and also we get to read about the unsavouries, who are the socially outcast groups...(Cont. 👇) 3y
BGam of people that defy the authorities and the rules of the thunderhead and how the thunderhead uses one of them as a bridge between itself and the scythedom ...
Don‘t think, just go for it. You won‘t regret it. A very intelligent story and extremely well written without ever getting boring even for a second.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

WOW WOW.. I M LITERALLY HOWLING. The entire plot was so refreshing and very unique. A utopian world with such a dystopian essence.. I d rather prefer my mortal era than to live in a post mortal age where the scythedom would decide ur death.. as it always has been said since time immemorial that absolute power corrupts absolutely.. so does even in the post mortal age where there is no poverty, hunger, religion and government. Cont.👇

BGam But no world can be utopian till there are humans because as the saying goes “to err is human”. There r Some very interesting concepts in this book, like there being no governance by political leaders, no police officers as there are no crimes as there are no deaths.. more like deadish and deadish people will be revived in the revival centres.. only two entities have absolute power over the people of the world, the thunderhead (cont. 👇) 3y
BGam ( a massive AI with a conscience who has taken over the role of governments and even gods) and the scythedom who are independent of the thunderhead but consists of humans who have the absolute right to kill people to control the population of the world. A very thought provoking book but a good mix of high school level entertainment. (Cont. 👇) 3y
BGam Loved the way Rowan has been portrayed.. an anti-hero with a twist but description of his growth ( as a fighter and a dark enigma) is crush worthy 😍). Definitely moving to the second book.. Thunderhead.. as it is I was so eager to know more about the powers of thunderhead. The last chapter gave me goosebumps😇 3y

What an amazing story. Although it took me a month to read this book, due to lack of time but I thoroughly enjoyed every page when I took out time to read it. Ending was super. We get to see Fitz grow up to be a big built man here 💪 and his anger episodes were very satisfying. Some action from him was what I was waiting for 😜. Love his relationship with Nighteyes and looking forward to more of their adventures together in the next book.

Witches and witch hunters. Typical story of enemies turn lovers in a made up marriage. I was surprised by some revelations but I didn‘t care much for the story. Well written though, plot is ok, clean cut story. Told from the PoV of both male and the female protagonists. Ending is good enough to leave the book at that. I won‘t however be reading the next one in this series. But it was not bad at all.

Crush: Crave Bk 2 | Tracy Wolff

2.5 ⭐️ I loved “Crave” and that‘s why I went on to read “Crush”. I loved Jaxon and Grace‘s relationship in Crave and wasn‘t really disappointed about it in Crush either but the direction towards which the story is moving, I have a feeling that Tracy Wolff wants to jump ships and she wants a more powerful vampire 🧛‍♀️. But She is getting all messed up in her approach towards getting the desired outcome.
Cont.👇

#bookspinbingo
@TheAromaofBooks

BGam In the process, she is not only hurting the sentiments of the readers who loved her first book but she also is getting all her magic system mixed up. Ms. Wolff in trying to make Grace look bad ass, she has infact made her whiny, pseudo idealistic and overly aggressive. This book lacked direction. She wasn‘t sure if she wanted it to be a YA paranormal romance or a Harry Potter rehashed. Crave started off as twilight fan fiction but well written. (edited) 3y
BGam But Crush is a bad skirmish of Harry Potter (quidditch/ludares game), A court of Mist and Fury, 100% Vampire Diaries and I felt there was even a bit of “Ignite Me” vibes with all the world destruction with the swing of your hands going on. It‘s fine, with the way Fantasy stories are being released nowadays, there‘s nothing original left to be consumed, in fact I love fan fictions but this plot twist was immature and forceful. 3y
BGam Really I understand when that happened in A court of Mist and Fury, there was actually no love lost and no chemistry between Tamlin and Feyre but here what she is doing with Jaxon and Grace is totally uncalled for and completely negates all the hard work she put in bringing the deep bond b/w Grace and Jaxon. I pray she gets her senses back and write the 3rd one with her heart and not with her head. (edited) 3y

3.5⭐️ Vamprys and Wolven! Despite these familiar monsters and magic system, the story was nice. Although it dragged a bit in the middle, the last few chapters were engrossing and somewhat predictable. Poppy was a fantastic female character. I loved the way she fought and defended herself. I so wish she could hit Hawke once. I found him abusive 😖. The romance was so-so. A female centric story all in all.

Much better than the previous 2. At least readable and finally the relationships and character growth was okay. This book is not meant for people looking for more adult fantasy romance, because the romance is very teenage and YA. It‘s basically kiddish, even the dialogues are very cliched. Don‘t understand the hype.. maybe the high rating is due to more YA readers. The book is just average.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 REFRESHING! Although it‘s a Twilight retell, this book has much more swoon and spunk. The vampire concept is explained as a biological evolution and thus feels quite realistic. Loved the Katmere Academy description, the whole old world castle thing was beautiful. And Grace and Jaxon Vega 🥰🥰 OMG. Such a fantastic romance. I loved Grace‘s voice. She was funny, innocent and cute. And she loved deeply and passionately. CONT. 👇

BGam Her reactions to her surrounding was natural and realistic which I enjoyed as a reader. Her thought process didn‘t frustrate me and the pages just kept turning. And Jaxon, OMG, so HOT 🥵, a perfect 🧛 hero, who is the vampire world prince, intense, brooding, powerful and shatters the earth with his emotions 👅. BTW the suspense is amazing too, some unexpected plot twists and lots of making out but not cringy. Wholesome entertainment. Loved It. 3y

⭐️⭐️ N HALF. Just got done with the 1st and 2nd books. I was more interested in finishing them for #bookspinbingo rather than actually enjoying the story. A very weak plot. A mix of X-Men and the Hunger games set up but love triangle romance being the central piece. Major chunk of the narration is the internal monologue of the main protagonist, Juliette. I did get very irritated with her constant self doubts and helpless attitude. Cont.👇#bookspin

BGam Kenji was a good character mainly because he spoke out correctly about Juliette‘s attitude in one of the scenes.. which was well deserved and I m sure many readers would agree with him. The other characters didn‘t appeal to me so much.. anyhow at least they were quick reads to tick off for my #bookspinbingo Happy to read! @TheAromaofBooks 3y

Every detail in this book was amazing. It hooked me from the first page. It wasn‘t a high fantasy novel. But I love a set up where the character is an underdog and eventually becomes the Hero. A fun read over all. Although I forced myself to read it despite my dislike for magical sea creatures, pirates and too much of fighting sequences (it‘s difficult to visualise it). Nice reveals. The only thing that‘s keeping me hooked to this book is the Cahr Awen theme, an ancient prophecy that is coming true for the witchlands world. SO FAR SO GOOD! The only problem with this book is it starts without a start 🤨 not much world building, no fancy intro, no description of how the main characters look, just few stingy lines but one is able to understand the Witchery and the magic and the world as you read along. It‘s an un-glamorous world with grime ridden actors and towns. Those who don‘t care for such things can read this, but it took me sometime to get used to it...

A month to read this book! The story was far too stretched. Usually her concluding chapters are good, but in this book, even the ending was highly predictable and a whimper after such a looooong build up. Amarantha was a better villain than Hybern king. I just don‘t understand how people vomit when they are anxious, terrorised and facing other extreme emotions 🤨 Also I tried sticking out my tongue to someone when irritated but..cont👇

BGam Couldn‘t do it like the high fae ladies 🤪. It was a long stupid bantering of a story. Liked only 2 scenes. Tamlin‘s entrance to the high lords meeting and his seething anger towards Feyre (deserving) and Rhys‘s emotional speech for his team at the end before going off to the war. Not much of a story here but very many scenes which the author tried to just expand as much as possible... (edited) 3y
