The original cover was phantasmagoric & magical but this cover I think suits better. It centers on a murdered woman left in the dumps as she recalls her oppressive life in her final moments. Halfway in & really liking it so far!
I‘m awestruck & speechless. These essays by female Arab & Middle Eastern journalists spoke in volumes with such commendable tenacity, courage & resilience. This is a needed perspective I highly recommend.

A sense of warmth from the fleeting romances with Nishino to the cold seat suddenly left empty beside ten narrating women. This is the epitome of “mono no aware”.
This book reminds me that we all have our share of hardships. We need to harbor kindness & foster love to each other—especially in the recent wake of terror & violence around the world. I hope we can open our hearts & help lessen suffering for each other & seek change for the better.
