#ReadYourSign Virgo ruling number 6 in title, publication date or page totals.

My book club‘s pick this month! A husband had lived by a different name and identity. Who is this other person he is masking under? How much of ourselves is lost in being someone else?

This one hits very close to home. I‘m still trying to find belonging with my mother language and culture.

Almost Home | Madisen Kuhn

Pickpick

If you‘re a fan of Rupi Kaur & Amanda Lovelace, you‘re going to love Madisen Kuhn. This poetry collection uses a home as a framework. And we are her guests as she takes us around her “home”.

Read for #NFNov, hosted by @Clwojick & @rsteve388

The original cover was phantasmagoric & magical but this cover I think suits better. It centers on a murdered woman left in the dumps as she recalls her oppressive life in her final moments. Halfway in & really liking it so far!

Pickpick

I‘m awestruck & speechless. These essays by female Arab & Middle Eastern journalists spoke in volumes with such commendable tenacity, courage & resilience. This is a needed perspective I highly recommend.

The Ten Loves of Nishino | Hiromi Kawakami
post image

A sense of warmth from the fleeting romances with Nishino to the cold seat suddenly left empty beside ten narrating women. This is the epitome of “mono no aware”.

An Orchestra of Minorities | Chigozie Obioma

This book reminds me that we all have our share of hardships. We need to harbor kindness & foster love to each other—especially in the recent wake of terror & violence around the world. I hope we can open our hearts & help lessen suffering for each other & seek change for the better.

Yup, Nina Hill was living the dream.

I love this so much my heart hurts. These are the unspoken words I wish I would have enough courage to say to my mother. Cảm ơn.
