This was the first Shakespeare I've read since high school, and the first of his comedies that I've read. Wow, I enjoyed it so much! The banter by Beatrice and Benedick are fantastic. It was really the perfect play for me to start on.

My daughter is reading Julius Caesar for school, so I've plunged into that. Thanks to Frank McCourt and PBS's Shakespeare Uncovered for getting me motivated.

Two things on my bucket list: reading some Shakespeare, and getting my cat's picture on the internet. #catsoflitsy

I'm close to finishing my first read of Honeybee Democracy. I will give it a second read with pen, paper, and Post-it notes in hand. This is much more than a book about bees, it is a peek into a scientist's mind.

...and now for something completely different...
After our long slog through Karamazov, we started, this is our new breakfast read. Just a few pages in, but my daughter is giving it a thumbs up.

My brother-in-law recommended this one to me; he travels a lot and My Life In France is one he rereads every year.

I was really impressed. I had not realized how late in life Julia Child had married, learned to appreciate French cuisine, and launched her culinary career. I was surprised at how introspective this memoir was, and how honestly she spoke of her friendships and marriage. Just a delightful read.

Hurrah for Karamazov! I've been reading at breakfast to my daughter...now in high school...since kindergarten. This was our most difficult novel yet; we started on this one 300 days ago!

We really enjoyed it. There were the typical Russian literature struggles: every character has 3 names, and the action doesn't begin to develop until page 400 or so. This translation had good footnotes.
