Two Sides to Every Murder | Danielle Valentine
Pickpick

For anyone that likes murder mystery set at campsites this would be a good book for them. This is the 2nd book I have read by Danielle Valentine & I would not hesitate to pick up another book by her. She keeps you guessing. This book leaves you with the question of could there be a 2nd book? I for one would be up for that! I just enjoyed the storyline and the way the book was written. I love a good mystery & this did not disappoint at all for me.

The Fury | Alex Michaelides
Pickpick

I have mixed feeling about this book but was not disappointed. I love Elliot telling the story. I felt like he was sitting right in my living room telling me this story. His storytelling kept me wanting more. The characters were all good and relatable. I would have liked more of the murder story but did understand why the characters background was needed and enjoyed it. This was a fast and easy reading book which I like.

One Last Breath | Ginny Myers Sain
Pickpick

I love a mystery and this one did not disappoint. The author developments the characters relationship well. I find it interesting the connection that Tru and Rio have to Bailey and Celeste, the murdered girls. There are a lot of interesting characters in this story. I kept thinking I knew who the murder was and would change my mind. In the end I was surprised. This book keeps you guessing and I would definitely recommend this.

It was ok. It was a fast read and the characters were enjoyable. The relationship between the main characters was developed well. The storyline was good and I did enjoy the dual timelines. The book did pick up for me as it went along. This book is listed as a sapphic thriller and I was hoping for a lot more of that. I enjoyed the ending when everything started to come together.

All You Have To Do | Autumn Allen
Pickpick

I was very interested to read All You Have to Do. I do enjoy dual timeline books a lot. I enjoyed the author‘s writing. I feel like I learned some things reading this story. It is sad how Kevin was treated differently than the white boys in school. The author showed how Kevin‘s mother tried to protect him by asking him not to “cause” trouble at school by standing up for himself only because she wanted the best for him. I truly enjoyed this book.

Thieves' Gambit | Kayvion Lewis
Pickpick

This was a quick pace book and I enjoyed the characters. I enjoyed the different heists the teenagers had to go through and how they worked together and also against each other to win the game. I enjoyed the writing and it was a fun ride to see who was going to win each phase of the Gambit and how. The only thing for me is it ended quite abruptly. However the book did leave an opening for a second book. I would recommend this book.

Kismat Connection | Ananya Devarajan
Pickpick

This was a cute concept and fun how the two became a couple. I loved learning about the culture. I enjoyed the closeness of the family and how Madhuri‘s family consider Arjun part of their family always. I hate that Madhuri felt that she could not be herself because other teenagers including her ex friends made fun of her because of her culture. But I like the fact that she was able to overcome that and be herself and embrace her culture.

The Woman Inside: A Novel | M. T. Edvardsson
Pickpick

I will begin by saying that the cover was what caught my attention. This was a fast read also. I do like the different characters points of views. Sometimes when authors have different character points of view it can be too overwhelming but I didn‘t feel that with this book. The characters were relatable. The story is about a wealthy couple that was murdered and I enjoyed how the author tied the POV characters to the couple and to one another.

Holly Horror | Michelle Jabes Corpora
Pickpick

Holly Horror is a fast paced book. I enjoyed it from the start. The characters were well written and very relatable. I enjoyed Evie‘s quest to find out about what happened to Holly all those years ago. This book has a different twist with the relationship with Evie and Holly which I found very enjoyable. Though this is a young adult book I think anyone who enjoys this genre would enjoy this story.

The Headmaster's List | Melissa de la Cruz
Mehso-so

I enjoyed The Headmaster‘s List. It was a fast read and I liked the characters. I did kind of know pretty early what happened but I still enjoyed the build up. I did find some things odd. Like why Spencer didn‘t see a therapist after the accident? And that her parents didn‘t seem to notice her anxiety after the accident. Why the police didn‘t investigate more about the scene of the accident. If you enjoy teen sleuth mystery this book is for you.

Ring of Solomon | Aden Polydoros
Pickpick

I like how Zack and Ashes friendship evolved. This is a fast pace and fun book. The characters are fun and relatable. I love the little bit of sarcastic humor thrown in. I think middle grade kids will enjoy this book and even find themselves enjoying the adventure right along with all the characters. I find this to be a wonderful book for even adults looking for a quick fun read. I would definitely recommend this book!

I can‘t imagine how all these families were able to go on day after day not knowing what was going to happen to them or if they were even going to survive. I cannot begin to know what these families have been through and the strength it took Mae to relive all the horror for James to put into this book. I wonder how James felt hearing what his father and family went through. I am thankful to both of them for sharing this story.

Beyond That, the Sea | Laura Spence-Ash
Pickpick

I truly enjoyed reading beyond that, the sea. I love the short chapters which to me makes it a quick read. I liked how you got to know each character. You get to see how they characters grow emotionally. And her relationship with William and Gerald evolved into something I was not expecting at first and wondering how it would have played out if things would have been different I definitely recommend this book.

Promise Boys | Nick Brooks
Pickpick

The characters felt realistic and the author had you wanting to learn more about them. I also like a good murder mystery and this was pretty good. This was a quick and easy read. I did enjoy learning about each of the main characters, but I felt there were too many different points of view about each of the boys. There maybe could have been a little more about the murder and finding out who was responsible.

The Davenports | Krystal Marquis
Pickpick

The characters were all likeable and relatable. I enjoyed that the book shows you Black women back in 1910 standing up for themselves and following their dreams. I liked how the characters all got along, that there was not any sibling rivalry or friendship rivalry. This book was an easy enjoyable read with several strong women. If you like historical fiction I think you would enjoy this book. I would definitely read more books by this author.

Locust Lane: A Novel | Stephen Amidon
Mehso-so

While there were some good parts, I thought it would be from the teenagers point of view. It is more from the parents point of view. The book also talks a lot about the parents back stories and I think it was a little too much. I would have liked to know more about the teenagers and their relationship with the murdered girl. The book touched on that but not enough. I felt the book was more about the parents lives and the murder was just footnote.

How to Survive Your Murder | Danielle Valentine
Mehso-so

I was excited to read this book. To me, it took awhile to get to the point of the story. Once it did the book picked up some. I did like the concept of the story. I was a little disappointed in the ending. I understand the references to horror movies, but I felt it was too much. I would not say this is a bad book, just didn‘t completely work for me. It was a quick read & there is a lot of enjoyable parts.

Secrets So Deep | Ginny Myers Sain
Pickpick

I really enjoyed reading Secrets So Deep. I like the camp atmosphere. And adding the theatrical theme was different and fun. It was interesting how the author worked the play into the plot. I thought I had some things figured out and I was close but there were a few twist thrown in. I like how the main character was trying to find out about her mother and things she did find. The friendships she made were good. This was a quick read.

I absolutely loved this book from the very start. I had never heard of Ona Judge and her story was moving. It was even more inspirational knowing that her story was inspired by true events and to find out that she was a real person. I also enjoyed Tessa‘s character. Overall, words cannot convey how much this novel impacted me. I will definitely be reading any historical fiction novels that Harrison writes in the future!

The Picture Bride | Lee Geum-yi
Pickpick

Furthermore, I also liked that the three girls had different experiences, but ultimately leaned on each other for support. This was a great use of the found family trope! Related to that, they also had their own unique stories, and grew throughout the novel. Each of the three main characters showed a lot of character development throughout the course of the book.

Overall, I loved The Picture Bride!

Blood and Moonlight | Erin Beaty
Pickpick

I was so pleasantly surprised by this unexpected book. In general, I am a huge fan of mysteries and thrillers, but I don't typically read a lot of fantasy, so I was curious to see whether or not I would enjoy a mixture of these two genre. I must say I ended up liking it a lot, and the fantasy part particularly was a fun addition to my usual genre!
Overall, I would certainly recommend this book, especially to people who enjoy mysteries.
