A YA novel about 4 teenagers that into a car accident. One was driving, one was high, one was screaming and one was dead. What really happened the night Chris Moore died?

The formatting of the book which includes multiple points of view, police reports, and a local crime podcast kept the pages turning and the pacing fast. There were some aspects that were unrealistic such as the sloppiness of the police investigation and Spencer's apparently endless prescription of Vicodin, and her parents lack of awareness of her addiction. The Headmaster's List is a gripping addition to the YA thriller genre. 4 stars
The Headmaster‘s List was an enjoyable young adult mystery, although it was almost too predictable, even for a young adult novel. I really liked that it touched on some serious and relevant topics, such as underage drinking, drinking and driving, drugs and the reasons for their use and abuse, financial power and influence, school pressures, living personal truths and more, as well as many themes; love, revenge, power.
The writing style was easy to read, and the story itself was entertaining. I really liked some of the elements to it. However, it was very predictable. I think I had it figured out from the very beginning. Some of the "twists" in the story I guessed based on the blurb, then I had suspicions as we met more characters. Since I guessed it, the ending fell flat for me. Ultimately, it was an okay story, but nothing special.
Spencer wakes up in hospital after a car crash which involved a fatality. Four students were in the car returning home after a party: Spencer, her ex Ethan, Tabby Hill, & Chris Moore, who was tragically killed. All 4 of them are part of the 'Headmaster's List' at the school, a group of high achieving students. Ethan is being investigated for having driven under the influence & reckless driving, but Spencer can't remember what happened. (Cont..)
I enjoyed The Headmaster‘s List. It was a fast read and I liked the characters. I did kind of know pretty early what happened but I still enjoyed the build up. I did find some things odd. Like why Spencer didn‘t see a therapist after the accident? And that her parents didn‘t seem to notice her anxiety after the accident. Why the police didn‘t investigate more about the scene of the accident. If you enjoy teen sleuth mystery this book is for you.
