One of my beach reads. Backman makes me so happy.

Jess7 Agreed. I haven't read this one yet, but I absolutely loved A Man Called Ove and I enjoyed his novella 7y
mswriterlygirl @Jess7 I just added it to my to read. I've read all but that and Beartown. 7y
Jess7 Great! Enjoy! Have a nice, relaxing time! 7y

I took a deep breath. Simply savoring that plate of fresh herbs was enough to restore my balance.

American Gods | Neil Gaiman

I'd like to read more/learn more about Greek, Roman, Norse mythology. Any suggestions welcome.

thegirlwiththebookishcandle Drat I had a better comment but my phone ate it. Try the Prose Edda for Norse mythology or Gaiman's retelling. Greek and Roman gods are basically the same with different names lol. Try Roger Lancelyn Green's books or for a fun young adult twist, try Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series 8y
mswriterlygirl Thank you so much @thegirlwiththebookishcandle I definitely should have paid more attention to this information in school. Eeep 8y
thegirlwiththebookishcandle You're welcome. I think sometimes its down to the presentation and we all nodded off lol 8y
mswriterlygirl So so entirely true. I've always loved to read but I disliked most of what they taught in English class. As an adult I find myself enjoying almost all of those same things that bored me then. 8y
bookcyns I read Gailman's Norse Mythology, I just started American gods and it's made some stuff easier to understand so I suggest that for Norse 8y

This book was a slow start for me and then I fell in love. So many laughs and tears. Fabulous characters.

Not my favorite classic. A very dark and sad tale.

DivineDiana Almost bought this at a used bookstore today! Now, I'm glad I didn't! 8y

I loved this book. I love that she was an avid reader. I love that she knew what she wanted and took it. Catherine was a fascinating woman. Well written and engaging. Plus I feel like I learned a lot of things.

tracyrowanreads I don't know nearly enough about her. I need to fix that. 8y
mswriterlygirl I didn't know a thing and she was this really amazing figure. I'm planning to read about Peter the Great next. This one was very readable. 8y

I should have read this instead of listening to it. I didn't remember who David was by the end because it took so long to finish.

"The younger ones still have a chance to change their lives, and I'll lend them a hand if they like. But too many of the older men, they've been on the road so long they wouldn't know what to do with a proper home if they had one. The concrete feels right under their bodies. Their discomfort has become their comfort. "

I know so little about world history. I don't believe I had a world history class (even in college). I'm on a Russia spree.

Not my favorite Faye Kellerman novel. Loved the mystery but way too much teen romance.

I loved this book. Lots of people said they couldn't get into it. That was not the case for me. I was sad for it to end.
