I ended up loving this book and I really want to read more by the same author. I have mailed it to you @hes7 and you should get it by Wednesday. I hope you love it too! #lmpbc
The book I am reading for #LMPBC is one that I picked up used. It is in great condition so I didn‘t really flip through it before buying it. Turns out the previous owner wrote in it! We get to see another person‘s thoughts about the book. Anyway, I am loving the book and just had to share the treasure of someone else‘s notes 😊
#MOvember Such a quirky book but full of charm and heart. Very similar to Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close which niggled me a little bit, #sorry 🤷🏼♀️still an endearing story of love and loss.

What?!! There *is* a “monster“ in this one. {cue maniacal laugh}

Everyone deserves to have (at least) one person who sees and accepts them for exactly who they are. Elsa and Granny are exactly that for each other. So beautiful!
Highly recommended if you enjoy reading from a “very grown up for her age,“ almost-eight-year-old's POV including the way she blurs reality with fantasy.
I'm so excited to read another Backman. ❤
The clock is the background was a present to my grandma when she married my grandpa in 1963. I inherited it when she died a little over 3 years ago. I know this book is going going to tug at my heartstrings bc my grandma was the best storyteller. She would tell me about her rendezvous with a count, trips to Mexico, growing up in the roaring 20s, etc. I miss her every day. ❤❤
“‘Only different people change the world,‘” Granny used to say. ‘No one normal has ever changed a crapping thing.‘”
“One day at a time. One dream at a time. And one could say it‘s right and one could say it‘s wrong. And probably both would be right. Because life is both complicated and simple. Which is why there are cookies.”
#BFCr4 #audiowalk with my pup. No one can make you fall in love with a character like Backman, or break your heart like Backman. At least I‘m getting my steps in while I sob. 😭💪💔 @wanderinglynn @MatchlessMarie @erinreads @Bookwormjillk @AsYouWish How‘d everyone do today?
What a way to end a reading slump. I think I‘ve cried in every Backman book. I was extremely close to my grandmother who passed away last year, and though her personality was different than Elsa‘s Granny‘s, their love and relationship were the same.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
She is still crying. Wolfheart as well. But they do what they can. They construct words of forgiveness from the ruins of fighting words.
4.5 ⭐️. I‘d read 2 of his novellas but this was my first full-length Fredrik Backman and it was excellent. A story of a girl and her grandma, of family & friendship, of the mistakes & muddled mess we make on this journey through life, and of setting things as right as they can be. Lovable characters despite their quirks. I‘ll definitely be reading more Backman.

Book 233/265
This book has so many good quotes.
😢
Sweet, funny, sad, and deeply moving in every way. Everything I expected from friends‘ recommendations and more. Gifted to me in a big #bookmail from my dear friend @Aimeesue and had her marks in the margins, making it even better. #grief #fairytales #family
Elsa keeps her face buried in its fur all the way home. It‘s one of the very, very best thing about wurses [dogs]: they‘re waterproof. 💦 🐕
Back in the Philly airport on my way to spend the weekend in MI with my dad. Had a long layover already and now the plane has been delayed almost an hour. I almost didn‘t bring a book. Started this one a few days ago. It was a bit slow at the beginning but is picking up now. I loved A Man Called Ove and this one may be almost as good. Might have to look for more of his books when I get home.
So true.
Diving into my first full-length Backman. Already enjoying the crazy characters and their land of make believe.

Love this author! Highly recommend! I fell in love with 8 year old Elsa!!
Reading in the boat while my husband fishes. Just enjoying the gorgeous weather and time to relax.
I cried multiple times. It was fantastic. I think this author is a genius.
This author is brilliant. I finished this story wrapped in a hammock. I laughed out loud SEVERAL times. Granny is wild! #mygrandmotheraskedmetotellyoushessorry #summerreads #lakelife
I don‘t know what to say about this that hasn‘t already been said by hundreds of other Littens... it was just soooooo good! I‘ll definitely be reading Backman‘s other books. The audiobook was well done and got me through a bunch of #audiocleaning today
Working in my dad‘s antique store today and it‘s been slow. Great excuse for a day of #audiocrochet
It‘s supposed to be stupid hot this afternoon, so I‘m trying to get as much of this blanket done before it starts making me sweat and then I‘ll switch to the paper copy of this book.
Granny says people who think slowly always accuse quick thinkers of concentration problems. “Idiots can‘t understand that non-idiots are done with a thought and already moving on to the next before they themselves have. That‘s why idiots are always so scared and aggressive. Because nothing scares idiots more than a smart girl.
I started this today for our library‘s book club and I can tell already it‘s going to break my heart...
Is this book going to break me? 🤔 It‘s possible.
What an amazing story ! The beginning was slow and I was close to Bailing. HOWEVER the last half swept me up and it is a very moving story. Bittersweet tears were shed! 💦This is my first Backman book to read and just ordered Britt- Marie was Here.
I‘m starting to love Backman‘s writing! Interesting perspective with a diverse cast of characters and a good story. Also, heart wrenching at times, but still amazing.
I texted my #SpinePoetry to my sister because I had so much fun, and this was her response:
Where the Sidewalk ends
and the mountains echoed without remorse...
The last time I saw you,
The German Girl,
My grandmother asked me to tell you she‘s sorry.
This is how it always is
Leaving home.

Oh, you guys!
When I first started listening to this audiobook I had a hard time keeping up. I was confused on character's names, the names of various make believe lands and what was real and what was imaginary. I thought the print version would be easier to follow.
But then I got into the rhythm and fell in love. I cried while listening to the last few chapters because this story touched me so deeply.
I may need a hard copy to treasure...
😁
CAUTION: Old woman with technology! This is my first Litsy post. I laughed...I cried...what‘s not to love? The quirky characters are endearing! Fredrik Backman is an amazing author! Joan Walker, narrator, voices this book wonderfully.

I‘ll regret this in the morning when the alarm goes off but I had to finish it. I don‘t know who I love more - Ove or Elsa. This story brought me to tears multiple times. I just wanted to hug Elsa and tell her that everything would be ok. This might be my favorite book this year.
I‘m only 80 pages in and I think I‘ve cried twice. Poor little Elsa 💔.
Question for the Fredrik Backman fans! Is this the same as My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry? I found this book at the library sale and grabbed it, but also thought it was weird that the title was so similar to another one of his books.
I thought it might be a sequel, a reprint, or maybe it's a different country's version? Anybody know? 🤔
Does this book come with a doctor to put your broken heart together and sew your swollen eye ducts shut? I‘m a mess!😭😭😭 But it‘s sooooo good!
