My voice is the ringing of an empty picture frame.”

Still struggling a lot with reading, but I‘ve been enjoying slowly making my way through Allie Brosh‘s latest and delighting in my excellent bookmark ✨
(Y‘all, there‘s no Nessie emoji, what an outrage!)
Haven‘t read a book since April, but my two most anticipated books of the year are here so hopefully that changes??? 🥺
I fucking love Ali Wong. Just like her stand up, this book had me both cracking up and feeling incredibly seen. And I definitely recommend doing this on audio for the most complete Ali Wong experience as possible.
“he promised to fix me & he left me more shattered than I had been before.
- but now i‘ve got gold in the cracks.”
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
Listening to Nora talk about grief and the tragedies that come with living has somehow become one of the most comforting and grounding things in my life. I‘ve literally recommended her, the person, to others before because everything she does is excellent and I couldn‘t pick just one thing, and this book based on her TED Talk is no exception.
This adorable upcoming picture book comes from an awesome, independent, Inuit-owned publisher called Inhabit Media. I loved the book and am excited to discover more from this publisher!
Such a lovely, unique novel that explores the pressures and expectations that come from being a woman in science and an immigrant.
I‘ve been listening to TTFA since the beginning, and at this point Nora‘s voice is like that of an old friend. Just finishing up her second book and it absolutely did not disappoint!
I was absolutely delighted by Rebecca Solnit‘s first children‘s book, a retelling of the Cinderella story. Can‘t wait for kids to be able to enjoy this updated fairy tale come May!
Back in late 2015, I discovered a podcast called The Bright Sessions and I was immediately sucked in by the incredible performances and storytelling. Soon, it was not only one of my favorite podcasts, but one of the most meaningful in my own journey with my mental health. In this book, which expands on the story of Caleb and Adam - two main characters in the podcast - is just even more of Lauren Shippen‘s magic. #staystrange 💚
Reading My Brilliant Friend for the first time and I‘m loving it!
(Bonus points if you know where my mug is from 😉)
Finished the book a few days ago and immediately flew through the series. And just. Whoa.
“History has failed us, but no matter.”
Phenomenal. I finally got to reading this book after it had been recommended to me way back in high school, and I can't believe I delayed this for close to a decade.
Beautiful and gut-wrenching. A great look into the Gwangju uprising and how its effects on the people involved continue to reverberate into the present.
"A friendly desert community, where the sun is hot, the moon is beautiful, and mysterious lights pass overhead while we all pretend to sleep. Welcome to Night Vale."

I have long lamented the fact that there was always a little leftover space on my Harry Potter shelf but it all worked out in the end!
I'm not a diehard HP fan, so I had very little in terms of hopes and expectations going into Cursed Child. I also probably missed things that a more devoted fan may have picked up on. That being said, from my perspective, I thought it had its highs and lows. All in all, didn't love it, but didn't hate it either.
I've never been one who was particularly invested in the HP universe, but I got Cursed Child and damn am I digging it jacket-less.
Each piece was unique and beautifully written; very thoughtful and reflective.
TFW you get home after a 7hr drive and a big box of books is waiting for you 😍📚😍
