This was a reread for me, but I had forgotten almost all the poems.

I enjoyed the self-acceptance message in the poems in this book. What I love is that one of my middle school students is the one that turned me on to this. I am happy that this book is on their radar, because the poems talk so much about self-love.

Pretty good book. Loved how she started with the misconnection with her mother and then developed into a cherished bond.

I‘ve been on a reading streak lately! I‘ve just been on a self-care streak in general lately! Recommend this short, not-so-easy to digest poetry book for anyone who needs convincing that they can save themselves. #poetry #theprincesssavesherselfinthisone #amandalovelace #paperback #library #quotes #filter #selflove #selfcare #makethechangeyouwishtosee

A gorgeous collection of poems, not too different to Rupi Kaur's work, that hits home with bookworms who use literature as their escapism and salvation 🖤

This book was amazing. It was the book I didn‘t know that I needed in my life. Some of the poems hit a little close to home and at times, but by the end I felt more confident in my self. It was a wonderful story about going through trauma and the journey it takes to be better after it.

This book was an amazing read but to make sure you really get what she's trying to say you really have to take a second and think. Overall I read this book in about 15 minutes, it's a great read.

It amazes me the emotional punch skilled poets can pack using so few words. These poems are raw and some were hard to read. The author is an avid book lover and I really enjoyed her poems about books.

Just what I needed to read tonight: a book of poetry that ran the gamut of emotions for me. The last section is beautiful!

There was good variety in this collection. I first read the witch doesn‘t burn in this one, which had very angry overtones yet inspirational. This one has anger still, but also grief (over the death of her sister and then mother) and love (toward her fiancé).

This is not a fairytale and is filled with triggers related to a wide range of issues. The author‘s style is provocative and raw and the book is compelling. With every page turn it felt like a scab was being ripped off a still raw wound. I was in tears and want to read more by Lovelace, but it will take time to reflect on the images painted so vividly by her words. 😭

Pretentious, quick, and shallow gloss. I do have sympathy for the concept, but the execution is so very '14-year-old discovering poetry' and I am of the age when I need a hecking larger portion of meat on the bones.

I read this Nov 24-27 and gave it 3 ⭐️. I read some pretty harsh reviews about this collection and Lovelace‘s work. While I like her work (both her styles and themes), her work might not be for everyone. A lot of the poems in this book are short and some feel like haikus. Lovelace also plays around with spacing and formatting, which causes some people on good reads to say its not poetry but it is.

I‘m glad I was able to hear this on audio read by the author. I think poetry is best with the author‘s own inflection behind it.

Sadly, her life has been a very difficult one, as evidenced by the extensive trigger warnings at the beginning. If you can manage and you like simplistic modern poetry, I‘d recommend this short (less than an hour) audio.

4/5 ⭐️ There were some very powerful poems in here that really stuck with me. The one above in particular feels relevant. She beautifully puts strong emotions into words. I will definitely read more of her work.
