Today‘s prompt is Simplicity Day
I read this memoir back in 2017. My review is on goodreads. Not the usual textbook declutter, but an honest account of the good and the bad.

Tonight, I was determined to make some progress on the tagged audiobook and collect some XP in the city square. I‘ve always liked the look of this building and would love to visit the upper floors.

I intend to get organized and declutter, but then I find the kitchen table is covered in stuff again and I‘m hanging clothes off doorknobs.
I thought this book would help motivate me in the new year to start tackling the Room of Doom project - the room in my house where I just stored all the boxes from my parents and in-laws that I didn't have time to open. This book fell way short of my expectations. I could still see it as maybe useful to others, just not to me.
So I might have a slight clutter problem. I think I was hoping to find more ideas about cleaning out things than I did. It was just OK.

My grandmother was a hoarder. Not the "can't move through the house but for this one path" type, but she had a room that took my mum and aunt weeks to clean out when she died. My mum has yet to be that bad, but she is a massive fan of clutter. Me, I make a point of doing a clean out at least once a year so I don't turn into either of them.
Given all that it's no wonder this book appealed. It wasn't quite what I expected, but it was enlightening.
Meh. Written by the author of Year With No Sugar, Schaub seems to have a penchant for choosing a year-long project and writing about it. She explores her clutter issues, hoarding tendencies, and family dynamics surrounding stuff. Not super funny, not super interesting. If you like reading memoirs about personal neuroses and particularly stuff, try it.
Good morning, Litsyans. Up early against my will but such is life. Pot of coffee brewed, breakfast and book, ready to face my day.
I did some bibliotherapy today and bought theses two lovelies. Super excited about them. 👍
When I first saw this book, I thought it would be more of a self help guide, to help me deal with clutter. Really, this is a memoir about one woman's struggle. There are some interesting points the reader can take away, and I do feel mildly inspired to tackle some problem areas in my house. If you are looking for advice, you might want to look elsewhere.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Get ready to start your year off right with A Year of No Clutter. Eve Schaub tackles the issue of clutter and our complicated yearing to hold on to things.
Schaub strikes a fantastic balance of humor, serious self-reflection, & research in this memoir of the year or so she spent desperately trying to de-clutter her home's "Hell Room". Recognizing that most of us live somewhere on the continuum between diagnosable "Hoarder" and "Pinterest-Ready" in our relationship with our stuff & surroundings, Schaub is refreshingly honest about how we end up where we do. This book made me think & laugh out loud.
