I liked it! Fast paced detective story about a missing American girl and the self-destructive photo journalist who is enlisted to find her. The author also throws in some political posturing, drug wars, army coups and a love interest. Quick and dirty read.
Super excited to get this one started today. Written by a former journalist about a former journalist investigating the disappearance of a newspaper intern. Love it!
Will Keller, war photographer, is more than happy to get lost in Cambodia‘s underbelly and forget his past. Despite his efforts, he is drawn into a search for a lost girl, a trip that takes him across the country & through his past. The author draws on personal career experience as a photojournalist to bring life (and death) to this hauntingly stark and brutal novel. I read this in one night, unable and unwilling to drag out the suspense. -Rachel
Really good, though the plot was a little more convoluted than it needed to be. But absolutely lovely writing. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
#TBRTuesday is just this because I have to finish it by tomorrow and I can't even think about everything else waiting for me.
The current weather in Richmind is really helping me get lost in the atmosphere of this book.
#funphotofriday I'm terrible and don't use bookmarks because I always lose them! 👹😳
Choppy read with the narrator being on drugs the whole time, but I had to find out what happened to June!
LIBRARY DAY!!!
Had to stay up to finish this bad boy in one sitting. An American photojournalist in Phnom Penh is confronted by a woman to help her find her sister. It's a wild goose chase filled w/crime & secrets. Fast-paced & full of emotion, Seeley paints a realistic pic of the gritty underbelly of Cambodia.
I am really liking Seeley's writing style and mix of cultural and political info with the plot. No info dumps is always a good thing! Hoping this one is a 5 star read. It is on it's way!
"Cambodia has been through more than any of us and has endured. We can endure." This book had some very insightful things to say under the guise of a crime thriller.
