Readers who have been waiting for a worthy successor to Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games will find it here. Dystopian sci-fi at its best, Starters is a terrific series kickoff with a didn't-see-that-coming conclusion that will leave readers on the edges of their seats . . . raves the Los Angeles Times. In the future, teens rent their bodies to seniors who want to be young again. One girl discovers her renter plans to do more than party--her body will commit murder, if her mind can't stop it. Sixteen-year-old Callie lost her parents when the genocide spore wiped out everyone except those who were vaccinated first--the very young and very old. With no grandparents to claim Callie and her little brother, they go on the run, living as squatters, and fighting off unclaimed renegades who would kill for a cookie. Hope comes via Prime Destinations, run by a mysterious figure known only as The Old Man. He hires teens to rent their bodies to seniors, known as enders, who get to be young again. Callie's neurochip malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her rich renter, living in her mansion, driving her cars, even dating Blake, the grandson of a senator. It's a fairy-tale new life . . . until she uncovers the Body Bank's horrible plan. . . ."STARTERS is a smart, swift, inventive, altogether gripping story. Callie Woodland, the narrator, deserves a series, and happily I am sure she'll get one!"Dean Koontz. .Kami Garcia, coauthor of the New York Times bestselling Beautiful Creatures novels said Fans of The Hunger Games will love it.

I'm enjoying this snowy morning with some book journaling and, of course, reading! The snow makes me feel like I can slow down and enjoy the quiet that snow seems to bring with it.

I'm really enjoying my current book, Starters by Lissa Price. If you enjoyed the Hunger Games you will need to have this one on your TBR list. I haven't finished it yet, so hopefully it holds up to the end.

Just finished this and it is an amazing sci-fi book. I have so many favorite part on this book(the whole book is my favorite guys!) And I also love the main character(callie), the thrilling part, the unexpected twist and happenings, and the love of callie for her only left family, her brother. Hoping to read the sequel #enders 😃😃

I have started six (SIX!) books in the last two days. I just can‘t seem to keep with one. I started rereading We Need to Talk about Kevin. It‘s great but I can‘t read that type ATM. Anybody else ever do this? It‘s driving me a bit bonkers! #bookADD

GingerAntics All the time. I‘m reading 6 books right now, too. (edited) 6y
hoppeduponbooks I do this all the time. Right now I am currently reading 7 books😁 6y
Samplergal @GingerAntics good to know! I have ten going now, since I started the six. 😳 6y

Samplergal @hoppeduponbooks oh good. We are all in the same boat. 6y
GingerAntics It‘s all good. Sometimes it just feels better to read a little from this book, then a little from that book, and hop around. 6y
GingerAntics I‘m about to make it 7. lol 6y
rachelk 🙋🏻‍♀️Currently have nine books going...no wonder it takes me so long to finish anything. (edited) 6y
BooksAtNight I do this all the time. I currently have 9 books that I go between; some are for the commute, some for lunch, some for evening, etc. 6y
hoppeduponbooks Well you gotta have a book for every mood and place. 🙂 6y
Shannon_McKinney Yep ALL the time. I think it‘s because I usually have books I‘m planning to read all over my house. Like, a few on the night stand, coffee table, inn tables, kitchen table, dining room table. So, I usually end up reading what book I have sitting somewhere. Haha 6y
julesG 🙋 Six that I read on and off, three that are hibernating right now. 6y
hwestfall This makes me feel a lot better to know I am not alone in this 😊 6y
megnews When I was young, one at a time. A few years back, 2-3 at a time. Currently 7. It drives me crazy too but I seem to get bored with things for the moment. Switch to something else, get bored, go back to another. Or I get so many books from the library I just want to start them all. I‘ve learned to live with it. It‘s kind of like, I love steak but I wouldn‘t want to sit down and eat it 3 times a day. 6y
SW-T Yep. I have nine going right now 😊 I used to do one at a time, then two, then three...I only stress if one‘s a library book and the due date is approaching quickly. 🙄 6y
AutumnRLS My goodreads account says I'm in the middle of 31 books right now... Lol. 6y
Samplergal @AutumnRLS lol! I have 12. Haven‘t touched four in months. 6y
AutumnRLS @Samplergal I'm actively reading like three, but most of them I really do intend to finish at some point... 6y
readordierachel Yep, I find myself doing the same thing! Sometimes you just gotta go with your mood, I guess. 6y
CouronneDhiver Oh gosh, yes. Join the party. Happens to me all the time 6y

Not totally sold on this one yet. I will give it a few chapters. I just have so many books, I can‘t afford to spend time on one that I am just not into.

MicrobeMom Interesting cover! 6y
Cailey_Mac I thought it was a quick, easy read; it reminded me a little of The Uglies 6y

It was fun to get back into a dystopia for a minute, but Starters won‘t go down in history as one of my favorites. It was fast paced and entertaining but I wish Price would have spent a little more time on her world building. The concept of a world starkly divided between the elderly and the young was interesting but could have benefited from a little more explanation.

This weekend‘s read has a bit of a creepy cover, but the dystopian premise is right up my alley!

With my daughter in the bookstore. She was allowed to choose one because of her good grades. She completely lost herself in all the books and couldn't make a decision. I could totally understand that so we left the store with three .... 😍

Starters is een spannend verhaal waarbij de angst voor mij ook realiteit werd, vooral de mindfucks waren echt heel vet. Ijzersterk verhaal en ik lees nu als een razende het vervolg!

Loved the idea of the book, loved the world. Callie, not that likeable, and I don't understand what was the great obsession over Blake. Wasn't that appealing in my opinion. Other than that, book was worth a read wouldn't say it's the best out there though, but worth the time.
