Overall not too bad. However I do wish there was more flashback and more backstory to the characters to give them more depth and feeling. The characters were well done but it just felt like they needed more substance to them and I think backstory would contribute more and give them more personality. Plot was ok, a bit predictable. Good read though.

Despite the length of the novel (may be off putting to some people) it gave each character their own story, and this was enjoyable to read. It certainly gave you more opportunity to get to know them as to who they are, and it shows how their newfound abilities shape them for the next books to come.

It's slow moving at first. I almost made this a DNF. I stuck with it as halfway through it redeemed itself somewhat. The characters are very unlikable though (Regina!! omg!) the mind games are excellent in this one. Almost had me going too. If you stick with it, I say it's worth it.

This was so much better than Anonymous Girl! Shay wasn't likable but she's not to be underestimated! if only the Moore sisters saw what a good addition she would be this whole shebang wouldn't have happened! It was a great read. Loved the twists and turns here and there. Wasn't ready for the ending at all.

Loved this one! Aside from the gaming and coding references that may go over some heads, it's a good book and you'll quickly find your favorite characters. My personal favorites? Vanhi and Mary. Loved their determination! So glad I read this book, it got me out of my reading rut!

It's a great start to a well known series but the translation is just not so good. It bogs the story and by the time I was nearly finished, well I really couldn't wait until it was over. It dragged a lot throughout the book. Good Translation is crucial for novels like these to be successfully read and enjoyed.

Quick read, the plot is pretty much straight to the point. What you want to look out for is good character development and also a blossoming funny “odd-couple“ friendship between Henry and OWEN. OWEN pretty much steals it.

It's a slow start and gets a bit confusing - but you get the hang of it after a few chapters or so. The characters are unlikable but you start to warm up to Virginia once her behavior is explained. I say give it a go. The ending is extremely satisfying.

Slow plot but the characters were quirky and interesting. The world building was really good too. I heard so much about Jasper Fforde, but this book just didn't really impress. I think I'll give his other books a try.

tpixie Before you give up on him, Try the Tuesday Next series. I enjoy those! ( I haven't read anything else of his).

I don't understand the hype with this one. It was bland and dry, Theo was unlikable and also dry. It wasn't until literally the last few pages where everything blows up in your face. Not my kind of story. Let's not even talk about Gabriel....

Cathythoughts I agree ! I bailed on this one 5y

Woooeeee what a read! it was a quick one from cover to cover and you were cheering for Darby all the way. Villains are disgustingly repugnant and although the ending was a bit over the top, it's still worth a read through! pick this one up but avoid the rest stops ;)

I really tried to get through to this one. I love hist fic set in WWII. But I couldn't with this one. It was a great storyline and lots of detailed characters (that existed in real life) but the pace was immensely slow. Not to mention Varian just was a mooncalf when Grant was around. It's okay to be in love but you got people to save Varian..for crying out loud. This one wasn't for me.

Wow this one was so good!! I love Nat and her devious planning. She's one scary person to be deal with! This one kept me reading until the late hours. All I can say is, definitely pick this one up. (Nat should have gotten rid of Will though. You'll understand if you read/or will read it)

Jeannineth I LOVED this one!!!! I thought it was way better than some other hyped books such as The Silent Patient, Miracle Creek, or The Anonymous Girl. 5y

Oh lordy. Skip this one. Wasn't up to the hype. A lot of bland characters, and the mystery aspect of the book was non existent. The red herring in the book was just there to take up space. If you really want to read this, may I suggest library take out?

Great engrossing read. Give yourself some time because the moment you pick this up you'll want to read in one sitting. Characters may be not so likable but the plot is so good and the mystery element will keep you guessing and there's plenty of surprises along the way.

The writing is excellent and it grabs your attention from page one. I rather wish there was a small glossary to see what Nina says in Russian (although I‘m sure it‘s rather colorful language) but other than that small bit, the characters are engaging, and it‘s nice how they all come together in the last third of the book. If you are stickler for history perhaps this isn‘t for you - it‘s more character and story driven. Still greatly recommended!

Definitely recommend this read despite the awful things some characters do in the book. It‘s eye opening and gripping read. It will elicit powerful emotions but it‘s accurate and detailed. No sugar coating here but the truth. Worth the read.

Lots of creepy bits and a villain you‘ll hate easily. The backstories of each character was the highlight of this book as it explained their behaviour and their actions. Could do without the extensive description of what they were listening to, or what they were reading though. Still worth the read. Really liked this one.

Fast paced and filled with action. Really enjoyed this one not only because it was well written and fun to read but since the setting was mostly Oregon I was able to recognize some of the places. Ended in a cliffhanger so can‘t wait to read the second!

This book had great promise in the beginning. Then it started tanking pretty fast in the middle to the end. It‘s way too long and although the theme and creepy bits were good it didn‘t need to be so long winded. Too bad because it had great promise. :(

Intense serious subject matter but well worth the read in this one. Piper and Sanda go through so much in their life that you really feel for them and hope everything goes well. Cheers to Piper for her amazing inner strength. What bothers me a bit was the romance in this one. Didn‘t think it was that necessary considering the seriousness of the book.

Great urban fantasy and fun to read. I‘m glad Peter‘s made to be an average joe guy with the gift of seeing ghosts. Instead of your usual anti hero types you see that‘s prevalent in urban fantasies. Lots of humour and wit, I can‘t wait to read the second one!

I really enjoyed following Lucy on her journey to London. What I didn‘t expect was this book to have some funny moments in it as well. I thought it was worth the read. It was nice to see a spoiled entitled brat become a caring individual, no matter how much she tries to go back to her selfish side. It‘s a great read give it a try!

The horror aspects of this book was excellent. Can‘t say I feel for Daniel though. He had it coming. I wish there was more to the execution of the plot, I think there should have been more to the Mabel story than just planting her there for convenience. I say take it or leave it with this one.

It was pretty good. A bit slow in the middle part of the book. The drama between Alina and Mal was getting too much and petty. Nikolai on the other hand was quite the dish. 😍 still pretty good for the 2nd book. Onward to the third!

It's a slow moving book but it's so good! The flashbacks from past to present is weaved seamlessly with this book. Keep track of the characters, as they appear and reappear a in both past and present and it's up to you to put the pieces together. The only thing is there's quite a bit of Afrikaans terminology. Needed to Google some terms. 😀

Absolutely loved this one. Yes there's a mystery aspect in the book but that is set on the back burner. It's the romance you're reading for here. I love Rosemary and Peter. They're in some ways very different, but on the other hand they're both very strong people. This was a joy to read. Definitely from romance and Christian fiction fans.

This book was definitely worth the hype. The only thing is, I wanted to know more about the world building. Yes, there was information but I just felt like there should be more. I also liked how we don't have a pair of teens besotted with each other. They were friends as a means to an end. The cliffhanger tho!!!!!!
