High Tide in Hawaii by Mary Pope Osborne - This MF chapter book is full of adventure shared between a brother and sister! This time the magic treehouse takes them to a small village in Hawaii to build a special kind of ship. Through hula dancing, eating poi, and surfing Jack and Annie discovered the magic ship they were meant to find, friendship! This book would be great for either IR or LC, time permitting of course!
I would use this fantasy story as an independent read in my classroom. In this book Jack and Annie travel back in time to the old Hawaii where they learn to build a ship and hula dance. They also learn to surf and spend time practicing. Soon, they realize there is going to be a tsunami and are faced with a dilemma. I highly recommend this and all the Magic Tree House books to students. They are easy to read and are educational.
My #livingaloha moment is just going on a vacation with my son. My son just loves going to the beach just like me! Thanks @DebinHawaii for this awesome #giveaway, congratulations! Hope I reached your milestone someday!
OK, Littens! I need some help. We're going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and I need some suggestions of things to do. Specifically, I would like to do at least one thing for myself so I'm looking for something Bookish, like a local bookstore. I need to stay in Waikiki since my girls will be with me though. Suggestions? (Photo because it's cute. Haha!)
We are on a road trip and last night we stayed at a Country Inns & Suites. They have a read and return library in the lobby that even includes a selection for young readers.
