Bedtime for Monsters

So the bedroom is mostly done. Except for one problem I have always had a high bed. It's an antique kings bed, it's supposed to be high. But antique bed and new mattresses don't work well together. This box spring is 1/2 the last one but the mattress take even more this bed is about 6 inchesp higher than in the last house. Might need to get a step. For sizing purposes, josh is 5'9"

LibrarianRyan @RanaElizabeth thank you. The next few weeks should be interesting. josh used to complain when the bed was 6" shorter, but he's saying he likes it. We have had the mattresses on the floor for the last 3 months. 7y

lauren.lerner They make box springs that are half as tall if you find it's too high and you're interested in making an investment. My husband and I keep saying we're going to get one for our bed which is maybe a hand lower than yours, sleep like normal people. 😂 (edited) 7y

LibrarianRyan @lauren.lerner believe it or not, that is a half box spring. We knew the mattress was going to be bigger so we had to search stores to find a half one. It wasn't that expensive and since it's only 3 months old I think we could sell it if need be. But for now it stays. 7y

LibrarianRyan @Karkar it makes mornings easy because you don't have to "get up". You slide out fully standing. ? 7y

readinginthedark Ours is like that, too! My husband made me a step stool to get into bed so I wouldn't break the side. 7y

GlassAsDiamonds ??? this looks like the grown up and much cooler version of my bed which is an "Indian online ordering/ inexperienced foreigner and general incompetence" screw up so I have massive bed envy (but at 5.3 on a good day....I do have a step!!). ??? 7y

minkyb I have the same issue and I'm 5'7". I got a step! 7y

GypsyKat We had that issue a couple of times. The first time we decided to fore go the box spring all together, and instead we built a flat wooden support, and that actually worked great. And the second time (different bed) we were able to get a low profile box spring, it was only about 5 inches high. 7y

LibrarianRyan @GypsyKat 👍🏻🤓 right now I have a step ladder but we may have an uninvited guest I have to make a bed for and if so he will get my box spring but I don't see that happening. I like it high. My dog not so much. 7y
